The [b][color=gray]Kalpian Republic[/color][/b] lays down a [b]Minor Factory[/b] complex expected to be finished sometime next year.

The [b][color=gray]Kalpian 3rd Army[/color][/b] finishes unloading in the captured port city of Piyengo and immediately sets out south. General Von Barlath sends the following telegram to Kalpian High Command in Mistburn:

Von Barlath was also uncertain as to why no orders to march north were given, as Kamenese oil deposits had been found there, though the Kamenese hadn't the technology to utilize it.

[b]Prelude[/b]: While other Varian nations such as Zellonia and Soroya decided to partake in the scramble for Vakellia peacefully, the Kalpians decided to seize on the Kamenese hostile response to declare war on the Empire of Kamen and begin a systematic war of complete annexation. The Kamen, Vakellians who were mostly without any advanced, modern technology, could do little to stand against the 140,000 Kalpians that were arrayed against them. A month into the campaign, the Kamenese Army decided to make it's first stand, in the south, against the [b][color=gray]Kalpian XII Corps[/color][/b] in the Akiru jungles.[/indent]

[b]Campaign[/b]: The Kamenese Army, with an unknown number, gave increased resistance in the Akiru jungles, terrain that the Kalpian Army was not only unfamiliar with, but largely incapable of crossing. The dense jungles made it impossible to set up and use artillery, and Kalpian soldiers themselves were mostly disorientated and confused. Also, for the first time the Kamenese were found to be using breech loading rifles, and the Kalpians found themselves in a desperate shoot out.

Kalpian machine gunners often set their guns up in front of a massive thicket of leaves and trees, only to be confronted with charging Kamenese warriors moments later. Casualties on both sides were heavy, as night time Kamenese attacks threatened to break through Kalpian lines on the night of the 14th and 16th respectively.[/indent]

[indent][b]Aftermath[/b]: Lasting almost two weeks, the Kamenese eventually retreated back north. The Kalpians claimed a victory, but upon advancing they found that most of the Kamenese rifles had been abandoned, having simply run out of ammunition. The Kalpian victory was contributed more to a Kamenese retreat than anything else.
