The unit is also mostly underwater so if you are 10-50m away from the ship you are fine. It also has auxiliary nozzles for lower speeds because otherwise how do you operate it any lower velocity? That and in lower output this thing is actually very economical since you reach the same speed as other vehicles due to its huge mass flow. Albeit is size also makes anything bellow 30 knots inefficient so yeah, hence the auxiliary nozzles with much smaller diameter. As for ramming ships, it may work if this were a cheap ship bit as the crown jewel of Yllendthyr any scratch on it is an offense. Granted given its speed and mass it would probably ram through the side of destroyers at full speed as if nothing has been there.
