I've somehow managed to avoid watching a single episode of One Piece. People keep telling me "Watch it and you'll understand :D" They don't get it. I'm not physically ready to understand. I'm not ready to be involved in something that long. I can't really say for certain because I haven't seen it, but long animes tend to be horrifically drawn out and repetitive and I ain't about that. (It's pretty much the reason why I stopped watching Fairy Tail). One Piece does seem a lot more quirky than other Shonen anime though; and I do enjoy quirky stuff so idk. But still. WAY too long for me to be interested in watching it.
If you go with that additude, all you will watch are either short and sweet or the total crap animes. Look at it this way: The four most popular anime, Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail and One Piece are long BECAUSE they are so good. They all have flaws, Naruto is terrible at drawing out everything longer than it should be, Bleach is guilty of the same, Fairy Tail edges into rediculus and repetitive, One Piece has a little of both and the art style is very fluid and if you focuse on the details, you will notice inconsistencies. One Piece is the quirkiest thing you will ever watch, good grief, the main character is a rubber man. The villans and other characters only get weirder. Since I have listed the bad, I might as well give the good. Bleach: Combat scenes and characters. The comabt is so awesome when they aren't standing around talking. Who ever make the scenes has a good grasp of the principals involved in fighting. A full cast of interesting and awesome characters that each feel unique. The storyline is very nice, with well placed tension-breaking humor. Naruto: The story is, without a doubt, the best of the four. Haven't watched all the way through, so not much to say. Fairy Tail: The laughs and the feels stick out the most to me. Plus, most of the time events proceed logically (when its not a filler) It does fall down a few times, but it always gets back up better than before. One Piece: My personal favorate when it comes to the world building and the lore. It actualy feels like a whole another world. It will have you laughing and crying and sometimes both at the same time. The antics drive the story and the one thing it does best are the characters. Each one has their own story, their own set of principals. I cannot stress enough how amazing the characters the characters are. Sooo... Yeah, that was longer then I intended... But hey, I am simply giving my opinions, discount if you don't care.
