For us, at least for most people in the states, we took the same class all year round in high school unless a certain class was only one semester.

In college you took maybe 5 classes and took 3 of them say Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and the other 2 Tuesday and Thursday. And you pretty much change classes each semester.

I feel like this is how it is most places.
