The sun was shining yet the world seemed strangely dark, all colors appeared bleached and faded. As Evelyn stood at the center of the castle training yard she took a few practice swings with her sword while at the same time shooting harmless bolts of lightening into the air. A brief moment of this passed before her instructor arrived, Master Oeric, the captain of the guard at Dustorne Castle. Oeric wore his usual stern face as he entered the training yard. "I hope you're ready for today's lessons", he said as he drew his sword, dulled of course. Evelyn took her stance and with a mocking tone she replied, "I was about to ask you the same", the two circled eachother, eyeing their footwork before Evelyn took the first strike. Swinging down towards the left she wielded her sword with both arms, a style she abandoned upon joining the order. Oeric blocked, pushing back her blade before moving in to counter attack. Evelyn stumbled back as she impact of their swords bounced back at her. Quickly regaining her footing she barely managed to avoid her mentor's swing with it missing her head by mere inches. "You're leaving yourself open to attack, reposition yourself faster because your enemy won't allow you to", Oeric spoke as he came in again for another attack. This time, Evelyn parried his attacked and followed up with a lunge swipe, Oeric stepped back to avoid the strike but was unaware of the gravel pathway behind him. Stepping back, his foot slipped and he fell on his back, Evelyn stood over her mentor with her sword aimed at his chest. "Looks like I win, today", she said with a smug look on her face. Oeric, however, smirked before knocking her blade to the left and sweeping her legs to the right. Evelyn tumbled over and looked up to see Oeric getting up to claim victory. Not about to surrender, she rolled towards her sword, grabbing it as she rolled closer to her teacher before moving to intercept him from standing up. Evelyn caught Oeric as he was crouched over, her blade resting on his shoulders as she grinned once again, "Now I win".
