She doesn’t recall much of her childhood, except that it was hard, and to survive she had to be harder. Mean things killed things that were less mean, so she resolved to be the meanest thing out there. Whenever she could she would read to distract herself from the less than pleasant conditions in Siberia - be it from an old book or a news article. It quickly became apparent that she had more to her than muscle, but her ferocious appetite for intellectual stimulation was forced to whet itself on old books. At the age of eighteen, with no formal education whatsoever and a heavily muscled physique, she joined the Russian Armed Forces. Basic training was… less difficult than she had figured it would be - the 30km runs carrying rucksacks filled with stones reminded her of similarly long runs tracking down a herd of deer to keep some sort of nutrition in their diets. Said hunting trips had also honed her skills with a rifle, and she establised herself as a merciless terror in close quarters. She took great pleasure in throwing people into walls or flipping them down on the floor. It was around this time she earned her nickname and callsign of, “The Wolf”, the name was fitting - she ate about as much as one, and was just as willing to rip someone’s throat with only out if need be. Right after finishing training, she was deployed to the intensifying situation in Chechnya, and after a few years of combat there, came into contact with a cyclosarin bomb in the 2013 Grozny gas attack. As the only survivor of her platoon, she was shaken by the ordeal, having donned a gas mask to tear gas a home before rounding a corner and finding her squadmates coughing and dying right in front of her - with nothing she could do. Nothing but run to minimize her own exposure. Not even the harshness of the Siberian wastes or years of combat experience prepared her for the agony she saw on that day, nor the aftermath on the civilian population. After being released from medical care, her previously poor social skills only atrophied further, and she buried herself in academic literature, teaching herself everything she could find to do with potential biological and chemical weapons. She called experts in the field and picked their brains, trying to see if there was something, anything she could’ve done. Eventually she applied to the CBRN training school, despite her lack of a college degree or real formal education of any sort. She was denied entry, and instead applied for combat engineering and was accepted. Sergeant Volkov completed her combat engineering training, receiving her certification for the role before being redeployed to active duty. Eventually she applied to special forces training and passed, being quickly assigned to a unit of the Spetsnaz GRU. She reapplied for CBRN warfare training and was this time accepted, completing the training near the top of all applicants. She spent several tours of duty undertaking the clandestine operations that never reach the newspapers, racking up her share of kills and earning the respect of her comrades, despite being a woman. Following a successful raid on a black market transfer of ICBM and radiological components by a collaboration of FSB and GRU agents, Aleksandra was loaned out to Task Force Echo in an attempt to improve relations and promote cooperation between Russia and the Western powers.
