[/quote]Since, most American presidents were either a Senator, Representative or State Governor before elected president, it would make more sense to create Politician Character Sheets prior to an election. Then you have a pool of Politicians who would then campaign for the office of president. He/She would then select a running mate, like in normal US Government election process. Once the election is complete, the President could then appoint his cabinet secretaries. Those folks not selected would remain in their political office. This way we are voting for the character, rather than the author.

The only time a politician was not elected, it was a General Officer who may or may not have served in a political office.
