Misadventures of Berry
It has been a couple of days since School officially began, which came a couple of days before an Ursa’s face was acquainted with a really sharp rock via a powerbomb maneuver, which came a couple of hours before initiation, which came a couple of days before Berry was sent on a flight to Beacon. Yet there was only one thing on the mind of a student name Berry. ‘Shouldn’t shit stop feeling so weird by now?’ Berry was well aware why his relatives sent him to Beacon. He was apathetic to their training, barely did anything more than the minimum necessary for them to stop nagging, and was rather crass when addressing superiors. ‘So how the fuck is sending me here supposed to fix that?’ There were hundreds of students under the care of a handful of teachers. They simply didn’t have the time to properly nag Berry about doing his studies. Sure they always pointed out what he did wrong when it happened, after which they would move on to the next person that made a mistake. Compared to back home where he would be nagged, incessantly even, by whomever was nearby, having all these long periods of time where no one would breathe down his neck felt, well, weird. A good kind of weird, but one he was worried would be taken away from him if he enjoyed it too much. Another thing he found weird were his teammates. His leader alone surprised him as early as the second day. Turns out when Lan said she’d be up all night decorating the room, she actually meant the whole night, because she didn’t, or rather couldn’t, sleep. This unfortunately resulted in her trying to stealthy decorate the walls next to Berry until she found a sword pointed at her neck from a very disgruntled teen. “Personal. Space.” was what he told her at the time. Not that the teachers were any improvement. Professor Oobleck couldn’t keep neither his feet nor his mouth still, and moved the same way a gazelle would run away from a predator, Goodwitch resorted to using that crop of hers so many times one had to wonder how much she was getting a kick out of it, and professor Port… “…the scorching SUN was beating down on me, in preparation for the coming battle between MAN and BEAST, that it could not turn away from…” Talked as much as Oobleck without having the decency of doing it fast. “…and I locked eyes with the monster sometimes known as a Boomer, looking at me with the intent of MURDER. He couldn’t feel empathy for its fallen comrades, nor relief I was separated from my gun. No, it could only look at me with the intent of MURDER…” ‘…you said that already you fuck…’ groaned Berry as his face was introduced with a table via head banging. Sadly it looked like repetition was something he wouldn’t be able to escape from here. “…but little did it, for it was a Grimm with no discernable gender as you know, that I still had not only one, but two, TWO weapons of mass destruction on me, ready to strike at a moment’s notice with the fury of the scorching SUN that was beating on me, in preparation for the coming battle between MAN and BEAST, that it could not turn away from. My lesser famous lashing left backhand, and my deceitfully deadly right hook…” ‘Can I introduce you to mine?’ thought Berry as he began looking around the room, trying to find something to keep his mind occupied on something other than decking a teacher. “…my patience having run out, I CHARGED the short distance to the monster sometimes known as a Boomer, with my hands in front of the well-oiled machine that was my body, knowing that it had no room to back down and turn, even if it realized its days were numbered…” ‘…asleep, entranced, asleep, drawing, asleep, chatting, chatting, asleep, taking notes, asleep, entranced, as…wait,WHAT!?‘ “…and so my fists and its claws clashed as we were hunting for the blow that would knock out the other, I stood my ground, refusing to move my body so as to not give it room to run …” No, there was no joke, a couple of students were actually taking notes and it wasn’t looking like anyone forced them to do it. One of the m was a blond with most of her hair combed to one side; she looked a bit familiar. ‘…but knowing that it had no room to back down and turn, even if it realized its days were numbered, it instead chose to back UP…’ ‘Oh right the other team they hanged out with in initiation…haven’t seen them since then...apparently Terra?...was accused of doing some crazy shit?’ ‘’…standing on its tail, I found myself double-teamed by the monster sometimes known as a Boomer, as I was suddenly forced to weave my way through not only one, but two sets of claws…” ‘Not that that explains how Tereza can force herself to write all this.’ “…realizing my time was running short I used my lesser famous lashing left hand to parry two swipes at once and took a BOLD step forward, knowing it could not take a step back…” ‘Doesn’t look like the other two are here’ “…and used my deceitfully deadly right hook to punch my fist in its jaw and crush its skull…” ‘Well at least one of us got to do it.’ “Ah, my timing couldn’t have been better, it seems classes are nearly done. Now can someone tell me what is a boomers main weakness?” ‘Gee, maybe the fact it apparently can’t move backward?’ thought Berry. “PRECISELY mister Balaur.” “Huh?” or rather he thought he thought that. “Never be afraid to take a bold step towards them, because they can push themselves in any direction EXCEPT backwards, meaning they cant turn on the spot if stationary“ “...oh.” “Everyone make sure to pick a sheet of its anatomy from the table and memorize the plateless spots . It can save your life. Class dismissed” “…what just happened?” he asked no one in particular. But no one would reply, not Cereza that was taking her time packing, and not the other students who ran out the class the first chance they got.
