Chie looked at Fumio who seemed to be so calm in this situation, while Chie was more along the lines of nervous. She wasn't sure how he could remain so calm, and act like nothing was wrong. To me that just made me think that you couldn't keep up with me, and you had to restrict my movements, to get an upper hand" When he started to say the last bit of his sentence, she could help but look at the ground nervously.
