Name: Abyss(his personal preference), Shade, Prince of Darkness(someone called him it which made him laugh and he never forgot it), Umbra. Identity: Lester Crane. City of Operation: Miami, Florida. Appearance: He stands around 5'11" with a fairly average build looking like a rather unremarkable person except maybe his always friendly aura. His eyes are a hazel and his hair is light brown. He often wears hoods or hats which partially obscure his face and he likes his blue jeans but other than that hoodies or long sleeves are his preference, quality barely matters. Age: 29. Gender: Male. Superpowers: Darkness Manipulation: Lester is capable of controlling and manifesting darkness around him either specifically or in a general area allowing him to obscure his opponents view and magnify the rest of his facets of his power becoming more dangerous the darker it gets. His attunement with darkness allows him to phase in and out of darkness/shadows with impressive speed allow for more angles of attack as well as defense, not to mention making a grandiose entrance, and though he can bring more than one person/object with him it tends to take significantly more effort as the load increases and it is possible to lose part of said load in between which could end quite badly for anyone who doesn't hold on or gets stuck for too long, the abyss isn't a friendly place at the best of times. Not to mention his ability to shape and create solid constructs, at a more easily maintained level its like steel any higher starts to strain him, out of the darkness around him whether it be weapons(much easier to maintain and control), clones/creatures(rarely puts them to steel limit preferring numbers over toughness normally), structures(his comfort level for size is set around fire truck size though don't expect it all to be steel tough) or appendages(depends on who he is trying to hit or hold down) but whatever he does make it tends to be practical and subtle though he has been known to go over the top occasionally if the mood strikes him. Skills/ Talents: Lester is a rather talented thief from picking locks and pockets to knowing a physical security system inside out as well as how to circumvent almost all of it or just get out of trouble if necessary. He has excellent spatial awareness often able to figure out how big a space is by estimation allowing him to comfortably fight in confined spaces if he has to. If there is one thing he has learned is that you can't do everything alone and so he has gotten good at accurately bribing or otherwise convincing, by any means, people to do what he can't and if they don't he doesn't forget faces easily. Recon is a love of his because knowing what he is up for or getting into is paramount plus between his powers and eyes he rarely misses a detail. As for combat skills he can mix his style of dirty street fighting with his powers making it a rather chaotic event trying to single him out or land a hit on him while keeping safe and its always good to remember that he is never alone in the dark. Equipment: He often has lock picking gear on him but other than that it varies, though he rarely brings lethal weapons because its just not as fun or profitable if they die usually. Weaknesses: He is only a bit more durable than your average person behind all of his defenses and posturing so he relies on letting his powers do the work or take the hits respectively. Intense light can severely inhibit his ability to create darkness or make it entirely impossible do not to mention it hurts his eyes and will likely give him a headache later, he does not enjoy them. Lester can fall to overconfidence as well as over planning for occasions being the villain that would monologue to a hero's face but only if he saw them as worth it or a challenge. His enjoyment of other people's pain and suffering, as well as his thieving sensibilities, often prevent him from killing targets or bystanders outright because there is no fun in deaths usually. Contrary to his expertise he often goes by a certain amount of instinct or just plain winging it and this mixed with his overconfidence has led to getting shutdown several times but he hasn't minded. The last but not least, certainly most annoying, issue is boredom because when he gets bored he starts stealing or terrorizing people or both if applicable though finding someone else for him to harass is probably for the better. Psyche: Lester is part psychopath, part sadist, and part kleptomaniac all rolled into one while simultaneously managing to be friendly and casual with everyone and anyone most of the time. While he does enjoy terrorizing people or stealing from time you will rarely see him actually harming them unless they decide to step up and challenge him because there is no fun without that willingness to fight back. In this he refuses to leave Night Terror alone because unlike most others who have stood up to him the man actually succeeded in stopping him on multiple occasions which he admires and tries to have his brand of fun with him which has yet to majorly pan out. It has become more apparent to him over time that caution is needed to deal with the fact he is still quite vulnerable but his natural self confidence has been known to override this more than a few times leading to his eventual defeat. Unlike his counterpart however there is rarely a method to his madness often just causing mayhem because he can and drawing attention to just how easy it is for him to do it. Lester loves to announce his presence when he goes out to cause trouble and can be incredibly bold to the point of fault, he doesn't have balls of steel its more like titanium alloy, but at the same time he manages an amazing duality by being incredibly subtle and cautious at other times which has surprised and caused embarrassment on the side of law enforcement, like the time he took to stealthily shove tennis balls into all but one responding cruiser's tailpipe while they were searching for him before driving off in the lead car giving them the finger as he went. He has an amazing propensity for making the unprepared look incredibly stupid because there is nothing more he enjoys than screwing with people and his powers facilitate the process, like showing up during the Miami mayor's public speech thanking Night Terror only to give the hero and mayor a handshake which caused the latter piss himself in front of hundreds which caused Lester to laugh hysterically as he bolted from the scene. There has only been one serious case of him being incredibly angry when he was criticized as being nothing more than an utter mad man with an horrible sense of humor who was hardly a threat comparing him to another local villain which ended in the offender being hung by his own intestines in front of town hall while Lester broadcasted himself causing the other villain to suffocate from an overdose of laughing gas ending with him standing with a straight face and saying "Well looks like he thought it was funny, laughed himself to death in fact. Anyone else interested in being a critic?" History: Lester despite his strange and chaotic personality as well as all of his psychosis grew up in a good home with a loving family, not to mention his power which manifested quite early in his life. The problem being that he could never relate to them wondering why seeing suffering or pain perked him up or stealing something precious felt so fun to him. Let alone his violent and occasionally destructive tendencies which often happened when he became upset by someone asking what was wrong with him as if he should be proud of himself for choosing to do it. It was this feeling that he didn't need to care or hear from someone how to be himself that led him to lead a life of crime and mayhem where he felt at home. His villainous career has led him through multiple states being an extremely successful thief and just doing bad by the people of any town or city he passed to varying degrees, not to mention being the straw that broke the camels back for a few heroes who just couldn't deal with his attentions anymore. Lester made his way to Miami when he got contacted by a drug ring to help cause problems for the competition which he thought sounded like a good way to occupy his time and just enjoy his craft. His interference caused more violent conflicts between the drug lords which in turn Night Terror began to dismantle leaving less and less for Lester which made him kind of annoyed that someone was doing his job. He eventually called out the person in question publicly out of boredom, throwing a few cars around didn't hurt either, which quickly brought out his soon to be rival Night Terror in a battle which the hero one by playing to the overconfidence of the darkness manipulator as well as giving the first taste of his paralyzing gas. After being subdued and thrown into a wagon he quickly slipped out finding a nice high building to look at the city at night realizing how much fun it had been to deal with someone who could actually take him on. Since this time they have clashed on more than a few occasions mostly in the hero's favor but not always and even then it left the question of why Lester never just finished him off like most villains or criminals but the reason was simple in that he felt kind of complete having someone to match his madness with method and it is why he seems to show up where Night Terror does often in an amusing or sometimes intrusive manner being one of the few who can find him on the job or just get his undivided attention.
