That's a shame. I don't think you need to read everything. What you need to know is that you are in a school for demi-gods and that there is a conspiracy against the divine. All the things going on are mainly sidestories of groups of people. If your character would introduce herself to another new character (or perhaps they already know each other), then your own story starts there. no problem.
