Was hunting really something to be so excited over? For Soren it was a commonplace practice back home, yet he could feel Lyra bristling in anticipation beside him as they walked. He supposed it would be exciting if it was her first time, though he couldn't say he'd felt the same in his initial outing; tension, nerves, doubt, plenty of those but not much excitement, that came later. He just hoped they found something they could eat too, otherwise all of Lyra's excitement was going to be for nothing. For a while they walked with no signs of prey, perhaps scared off by the proximity of Grimm, or by all of the students running around. If they couldn't find themselves some meat, Soren reflected, there were plenty of plants to have. Hardly as nutritious or tasty as a fresh seared steak, but given that and starving he'd gladly take some leaves any day. Soren nearly continued walking when Lyra stopped, only a casual glance backwards telling him she had even come to a halt. Watching her silently for a moment he nodded at the mention of boars up ahead. There was one huge benefit of having a Faunus on his tip, being able to both hear and smell things from a ways off. It could secure them a meal as it was now, or alert them to Grimm before they walked into an ambush. Handy that she was along as he hadn't noticed anything yet, failing to find any footprints in the forest floor to track. "I can cook over a fire, it's not that hard. So long as you're not looking for a fancy meal anyways," Soren replied, nodding as Lyra began moving forward with her bow at the ready. Shame he didn't have a skinning knife on him though, he'd either have to try using his sword or something else to carve up their kill. Not to mention they needed a way to get rid of the waste once prepared, especially with so many Grimm in the forest. Expecting Lyra to keep to the forest floor, he was a bit surprised seeing her leap up into the trees above. There was something he couldn't do, he wasn't too familiar with trees and had next to no practice climbing them, let alone running along the tops of them. Nodding silently he watched her rush off ahead, chasing after on the floor below. Just up ahead was their quarry, astonishing how accurately Lyra could track them. Were all Faunus capable of this, or was she just particularly skilled? There had only been a handful of their kind back in Vacuo and he didn't know them too well, certainly not enough to know what their skills might be. Ready to go in and catch one of the boars Soren instead halted in his step when hissed at, glancing up before frowning at the latest revelation. "Right... Attacking the boar is bound to bring it here too..." he mumbled to himself, grabbing his sword and holding it at his side as he waved for Lyra to take a shot, "I'll handle the Grimm, focus on getting us some food." [hr] For whatever there was between Lyra and Owyn, the latter sure did seem to have a lot to say. Hearing him critique his sister like that was a little off-putting, as if she was lacking somehow because she didn't possess social graces. Not everyone was amiable in the face of large crowds, some people downright detested them; Soren seemed like the sort not to care for crowds, perhaps Lyra was the same way? It was strange, he sounded almost remorseful and yet critical at the same time, making it difficult to get a read on exactly how Owyn was feeling about this. "Well... Maybe there was too much pressure on her at home? Some people like being alone when things get to be too much, others face it headlong and overcome it," Ulyssa said simply, shrugging before reaching up with her sword and slicing free another tree limb, "She might change now that she's here, you never know. I don't know her well enough yet to agree or disagree with you though." Nor was she really in a place to tell Owyn he was right or wrong, so she'd just leave their conversation about Lyra at that. "Me? Oh, I'm from Mistral. I'm the daughter of two very successful Huntsmen, and I've been training for this all of my life," Ulyssa began, smiling as she stopped in her tracks and turned to face Owyn. Placing a hand on her chest she looked at her partner proudly, seeming to glow as she got a chance to share her pedigree with him. "I was trained by my parents, excelled in combat school and plan on doing so here as well! I've dedicated my entire life up until now to getting here, and I don't plan on settling for anything less than the best," she continued, winking playfully, "So don't you slack on me, got it? I need good teammates to help with that." Well perhaps she'd gone a little bit overboard with her response, Owyn had only asked where she was from, not her life story. It was always fun to be able to gloat a little though, knowing that while she didn't come from money she was perhaps the most experienced of students here, and one of the more prepared to take on what being a Huntsman entailed. "How about you? And, if you don't mind my asking... Is Lyra really your sister?"
