-Day 1, August 15th 2090, - Erika's head lifted up and to the rear view mirror as she heard Kiley speak about the missile not being enough. She looked back forward. "Agreed,... a missile strike will most certainly be enough. It will kill all the ones on the surface yeah, but this city has so many tunnels and subways that the blast will leave those still underneath unharmed. This city is already lost,... they would have to nuke the city twice in order to even get hopes of defeating them. Even then the chances are slim. All it takes is for just one of them to escape or survive and the infestation will start all over again." She said. She drove around the vehicles stuck on the bridge and looked back towards the other girl. "Don't worry,... the Xenos are not that scary or tough. Alone they are weak and easy to dispatch. They are a problem when they are in a group..... Maybe it is best you left the apartment and I ran after you." She said glancing at the radio which was now static. "I could be sharing the same fate as my men. I just hope the things killed them and not do to them what they did to that man in the store." She continued. She leaned back trying to relax just a little. She then looked to the river that ran underneath the bridge. "Not even destroying the bridges will stop them, did you know they can pretty much adapt to any environment and are excellent swimmers?" She added. It was almost hopeless,... until she grabbed hold of the locket around her neck. She once more did a silent prayer to her brother. Once they cleared the bridge she didn't stop. They would keep going until she was certain they were beyond the blast radius. There were blockades here and there but no military vehicles yet. As they began to reach the outskirts that's when the military camps and outposts began to pop up. They pulled up to one that was simply a checkpoint. She stopped and the soldier on duty went up to the window. He noticed her rank and gave a salute. She rolled down the window and looked behind them and to the soldier. "When's the strike coming?" She asked. The soldier checked his watch and then looked back to her. "Ten minutes ma'am, can we inspect everyone before we let you pass?" He answered. She nodded and looked behind her. "We are stepping out the vehicle for only a few seconds. All of us are. They will do just a routine check of the stomach with a scanner. Seeing as none of you got one of those facehuggers on you, the can should pass so don't worry." She said. She then opened the door causing the soldier to step back. "Lost my whole damn team back there..... well not all of them but nearly all of them." She said as she saw her remaining few as well as Miles. The soldier grimaced. "Apologies ma'am, heard it was bad. Didn't think it was that bad." He replied. She sighed and smirked. "You know my team trained for like eight years for this kind of battle. Those simulations sure underestimated the threat those things provided." She said. The man pulled up the scanner and she lifted her kevlar and her tank top slightly to give a accurate scan. It took only a few seconds before the green light blinked on it. He went from her to Miles and did the same. Once more the green light went on and then off. Each remaining marine cleared the test and it was finally Kiley's and her sisters. "I could use a snow ball right now...." She said. Causing a smirk to rise from Mile's features.
