Winny stands at a height just shorter than Juvia/Lucy. Winny has icey blue hair with matching ice cold eyes that really pop with her pale skin. She has an athletic yet curvy body type similar to almost all female mages in Fairy Tail. Winny is often seen wearing white skinny jeans paired with a darker shade of icy blue knee high, heeled boots. She pairs that with a black strapless top that is tight fitted to her skin with a tank top vest that is the same color of blue as her boots. On the bottom of her vest you can see gray-blue snowflakes that give a very cool effect to her vest especially since they all are different like normal snowflakes. On her right arm you can see five tight fitting bracelets. The two on the ends, one closer to her wrist and one closer to her elbow, are colored black and the three in the middle are a silver/gray color. On her left hand there is a finger-less black glove reaching to her wrist that is covering up a burn she received when she was younger. Next there is a black piece of fabric tied around her left mid-thigh just for the heck of it and a black chocker with a metal snowflake in the middle. Finally, to complete the outfit, there is a long chain necklace the holds a light blue crystal on it(necklace explained in her history).

Arctic Magic is a combination of snow and ice magic in a new form. The magic gives the user the ability conjure up and shape various things from ice walls to small blizzards. Most of her magic is unleashed via her hands, and controlled by her emotions. If she's happy and at peace, her magic would be under her complete control, but if she's stressed or fearful, she will lose control and cause great harm to those around her. Her magic can be related to that of Ice Make Magic/ Ice Magic mixed with Snow Magic. So to make this simple to understand, she has Ice Make Magic/ Ice Magic and Snow Magic.

Winter wasn't actually born as an Arctic Mage, nor did she always have light blue hair and light blue eyes. She used to have the name Summer and she had red hair with brown eyes that seemed to have a red tint to them. So let us go back to the beginning of her life and find out why she is who she is now. But first we must travel to before she was born.

Welcome to the island of Vis-à-Vis. This island is located off the coast of Fiore and is a very magic based island. You may be wondering, why is this island named so strangely? Well to answer that you have to know what Vis-à-Vis means. Vis-à-Vis is another word for opposite. Yes I know a strange name for an island but this islands terrain greatly explains the reasoning. Vis-à-Vis has basically been split in half, on one side is a cold arctic terrain and on the other side is a hot desert terrain. Two very different groups of people live on this island. On the cold, arctic side there lives a tribe of ice and snow mages. While on the hot, desert side their lives a tribe of fire mages. These two tribes have been rivals ever since the beginning of the island being inhabited. Nothing really ever happened between them until one day. But this will come later in the story.

Now back to explaining how Summer became Winter. During a nice, warm day in December(ironic right?) the wife of the Chief of the Fire Tribe gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with firey, red hair and brilliant redish-brown eyes. The Chief and his wife decided to name this girl Summer. Summer grew up like a normal young fire tribe girl that was until the ice terrain began to grow and take over some of the desert. This one small thing caused a war to break loose on the island of Vis-à-Vis. The Fire tribe eventually wiped out all of the Ice tribe members until it was down to only the Chief of the Ice Tribe. He was brought back to the center of the village of the Fire Tribe to be executed. Summer sat with her parents on a raised platform to watch the excecution. Shortly before he was executed he muttered something and then shot a small blast of magic straight at Summer. Her father wasn't quick enough to get her out of the way so the magic hit Summer directly in the heart. She was knocked back falling unconscious, with a small glow a strand of her hair turned blue and the Fire Tribe new that she had been cursed. 

Summer's parents immediately took Summer to the magic healer that was apart of their tribe. The old woman used her magic and placed a spell on a small crystal that was then put on a necklace for Summer to wear. This crystal would suppress the curse until it became to powerful to handle. After a few days of wearing the crystal Summer finally regained consciousness and went back to normal life. The only difference was how much her parents watched over her. She was never affected by the curse until she turned 8. It had been 4 years since she had been cursed. 

One day she was outside playing with some of the other children in the tribe and her crystal shattered. There was a blast of cold air along with a bright light and then when it faded Summer's hair had turned light blue and so had her eyes. Her normally tan skin was now pale and the ground around her was covered in snow with ice spikes. She collapsed to her knees when she saw the children she had been playing with were frozen. Tears began to stream down her face as she screamed for help. The tribe began to head her way along with her parents and when they reached her they all looked shocked. Her father tried to come near her to calm her down but she told him to stay away and put her hands up. A small sharp piece of ice flew out and hit her father in the shoulder. He knew that she would never be normal again and was instantly fearful of his own daughter. "Get out of here you monster." He growled, "you aren't my daughter. What have you done to her?!" He yelled. "but.. I am still your daughter... Please daddy..." Summer pleaded with her dad standing up and walking towards him and grabbing his hand with her left hand. "No you aren't. Don't touch me!" He yelled setting his hand on fire using his magic. The fire burnt her left hand and part of her left forearm. Summer backed away with a yelp of pain. She bent down and picked up the small shattered crystal and using her magic to piece it back together before putting it back on the necklace. 

Summer then took off running leaving a trail of ice behind her. Summer ran until she reached the ice terrain but she continued running until she reached a cave towards the top of a tall,snowy, icy mountain by following a path. Summer collapsed once she was in the cave holding snow from outside to her burnt arm. She pulled her knees to her and began to sob. Her emotions began to control her new found magic abilities and a blizzard that had pieces of hail in it began to cover the island. The normally warm village of the Fire Tribe became freezing cold and they new that they needed outside help.

A day later and the storm still was raging on when the requested mage team arrived at the island. This team was Team Natsu + Juvia. The team was immediately greeted by the Fire Chief who explained what was happening. Explained isn't the right word to use, more like lied about the cause of the storm. The Fire Chief told the team that there was a monster on top of the mountain in the snow terrain side of the island that was causing the storm and that none of them could stop. He told them that they would be payed once they brought him the dead beast. He emphasized the fact that no matter what it was it had to be killed. The team agreed and began their trek through the blizzard after they all recieved some warmer clothing, well all of them besides Erza, Natsu, and the shirtless Gray who enjoyed the cold(much to Juvia's liking).

 Gray and Natsu led the way using their magic to help them make it through the deep, cold snow. Once they finally reached the cave at the mountain Natsu grinned. "Hey dumb monster come fight us!" he yelled. But they didn't get a response nor did they hear any loud footsteps coming towards them but if they listened closely they could hear sobbing from deep inside the dark cave. "Natsu I hear the sound of a sobbing child coming from inside the cave. Shouldn't we go check it out?" Happy asked. Carla nodded and agreed that she also heard the sobbing. Both Wendy and Natsu listened and could also hear the sobbing clearly. As the team walked through the cave using Natsu's fire to help them see Erza spoke up, "be careful. For all we know this could be a trap." She whispered to the team. They all prepared themselves for the worst but stopped when they could see a little girl crying.

Summer looked up and saw the team but her eyes immediately fell onto the fire that Natsu had. "Please don't hurt me!" She said panicedly as she held her hands up to cover her face. But since she had no idea how to control her magic some more sharp pieces of ice flew towards them but Gray was able to stop them and immediately glared at Natsu, "I think your idioticness scared the little girl." He whispered. "No I'm sure it was your ugliness Ice Princess." Natsu said glaring back at him. They were about to start fighting but Erza gave them a glare which caused them to stop. While they had been doing that and Lucy and Wendy were watching Juvia had been more focused on the little girl who kind of reminded her of when she was younger and had been sad and alone. Juvia slowly made her way towards the girl. "Juvia is curious if you are ok." She said as she kneeled infront of the girl. Summer lowered her hands and looked at Juvia and only saw kind, caring eyes looking back at her. Juvia's eyes flashed towards the very bad burn on Summer's arm and then looked back at Summer. "Juvia see's that you are hurt. Can Juvia and her friends help? Juvia doesn't think you should have to talk about what is wrong unless you want to but atleast allow Juvia and her friends to help." Juvia said kindly.

The rest of the team had stopped and were focusing on what was happening between the two. Summer nodded in response to Juvia's question and Juvia motioned for the Team to come over there. Wendy began using her magic to help heal the burn wound while Natsu got a fire started to help warm up the area. They all sat in silence as Wendy healed and Juvia sat near the girl helping comfort her. "Are you hungry?" Gray asked looking at Summer. "Y-yes..." Summer said finally speaking to them. Gray went to get food from the bag and saw Natsu eating it. He glared at Natsu while quickly picking up a sandwich of the many Mira had given them for the trip. He gave it to Summer who happily took it with her good hand and ate it. When Wendy had done as much as she could she got out some bandages and turned towards Gray. "Gray will you put a small layer of ice onto this bandage please. It will help relieve some of the heat coming from the burn." Gray obeyed and while he did that Summer watched him because she was intrigued by the fact that he was used to having magic of what is seen as evil in her Tribe. Which is how she thought was seen as evil all over the world which is why she hated that she was cursed with Arctic Magic.

After Wendy had wrapped the bandage around Summer's arm Erza suggested they all go to sleep for the night and in the morning they will take Summer to wherever her home was. Summer hid her fear of going home deciding that when everyone else had fallen asleep she would sneak out of the cave and run so she wouldn't have to return. "Juvia wishes you a good night but is curious first to what your name is." Juvia sad looking at Summer. "Summer." Summer said simply before Juvia and the rest said goodnight to her before they all fell asleep besides Natsu who was on guard first. Summer pretended to sleep but silently watched Natsu until he fell asleep while on guard duty. Summer quickly stood up and quietly walked towards the mouth of the cave. She turned took look back one last time and sighed as she turned to walk out of the cave. Her eyes immediately widened at the sight infront of her. But she was to scared to scream.

Infront of her was her father and the warriors of the village. "Somehow I knew that team from Fairy Tail would fail because of their kind hearts so I had to come here myself to finish you off." He said smirking evily as a ring of fire surrounded her and him. Summer screamed but was quickly cut off by her father's hand over her mouth. "Shhh now now don't scream child. I don't want that team to wake up." He said. Unfortunately the scream had awoken all of them and they were already running through the cave towards her. Her father heard them as they arrived and turned around Summer still in his grip so they were facing him. "I should have never agreed to allow your guild to do the job. Can't you see. This is the beast I told you about. She is the cause of the storm, a beast cursed with Arctic Magic. Summer here needs to be killed before she kills us." He said simply. "No one deserves to die. And Arctic magic or any Magic similar to it isn't a curse. Magic is a gift." Gray said angrily as his hand glowed ready to use his magic. The rest of the team all got into fighting stances also ready to fight for the young girl who they barely even knew. 

Summer looked towards Juvia with sad, scared eyes. Juvia saw her eyes and got angry. "Juvia does not like people being mean to someone that reminds Juvia of Juvia as a child. It is almost like Summer is Juvia's daughter so let Summer go or else Juvia will make you!" She said angrily. This caused Summer's father to laugh. "She is like your daughter, that is funny because she is my daughter. Summer here used to have red hair like me and the rest of our Tribe but she betrayed us. Don't let her innocent look foul you. Guards get rid of these pesky Fairy Tail members. The guards charged forward but were easily defeated, the team was strong already but when in a situation like this their anger made them stronger. "Now let her go! You shouldn't want to kill your Nakama no matter what because they will always be your Nakama!" Natsu yelled as he glared at the Fire Chief. Summer began to cry at the fact that these strangers wanted to help protect her. Summer's emotions caused the storm to kick up even more around her and her father and her skin became ice cold, her father's hands were the first thing to turn into ice and eventually the rest of her father did to, he just looked like an ice sculpture. Summer put her hand to her mouth and began shaking. The storm around her slowly disappeared and the Team could finally see her again. Summer collapsed once it finally hit her that she had just turned her father into ice. Sobs raked the young girl's body as Juvia came over to her pulling her into her arms and hugging her tightly. She helped calm her down and just held the small girl. Gray came over and helped. "Summer, if you would want to. You can come and join our guild. I can help teach you how to control your magic and if you want, me and Juvia will take you in and raise you as our own." Gray said softly to the young girl. Summer looked at them and tears of joy now streamed down her face as she nodded. She could now have a real family but first she asked them if she could change her name. When they agreed she began going by the name Winter Fullbuster or just Winny for short. 

Three years had passed since the incident on Vis-à-Vis Island and Winny was now 11. She had made new friends and had become not only the daughter of Gray and Juvia but a part of the big family of Fairy Tail. Winny had learned to control her magic a lot better although her emotions still could take over and cause problems but that really only happened when she had nightmares at night and she would wake up screaming, her room a winter wonderland. She was happy and couldn't ask for a better life although that was until the day Fairy Tail was attacked. Winny helped fight the best she could along side her parents but she was knocked unconscious by a big explosion and when she woke up she was in a bunker with some of the others. Her parents missing and possibly dead. She cried for a few days causing the little corner she had a sleeping bag set up in to become frozen. But then she changed her mind set and along with Iggy she began to train and become stronger. Joining the group that was going to help destroy the darkness. She had to do it, for her Nakama and the ones that saved her from herself and her past.
