I just lay there, apparently napping, while he took his time opening the cage door and waiting for me to do something sudden. I was briefly tempted to oblige, but I squashed the temptation with the highly pleasing thought that Vlad would probably be annoyed by my sudden compliance, now that the old fart was at least somewhat removed from events at the complex. Hopefully that would be the case for a few months, but I realize that is probably just wishful thinking on my part.
