I usually like the ages to match.  So it is fine. I will say Pete is 21. 

Basic ideas for Pete:
Sort of gruff but a nice guy.
Way over his head since Mari is much higher class than he is.
Grins and bears life's hardships for the people he cares for.  

I am going to make Pete first since my twin needs the other twin to be made first.
