With fiery red hair and vibrant blue eyes, she stands barely reminiscent of her parents outside of her skin tone— a fact that might be clear due to the fact that she has probably [i]dyed[/i] her hair, though that would be a bit speculative. Nathalie isn’t too tall, bearing around the 5’2” - 5’3” range with a mildly athletic build but nothing too defined. As far as blemishes and their ilk, Nathalie doesn’t have many outside of some childhood gashes and cuts that didn’t heal too great— such as healed gash on her knee from an incident on her bicycle when she was ten. As for terms of preferences for clothes, Nathalie seems to be diverse in her sense of fashion with selections ranging from jackets, sweaters, business casual, formalwear, skirts, dresses, khakis; she’s not particularly picky though she loves to mix and match if she thinks it goes well with something else. [indent]Affected emotionally by her father’s abandonment of herself and her mother when she was seven years old, Nathalie has had some rough adjustments to make up for. Partially due to her abandonment she found herself using a sense of humor as a sort of defense mechanism to shield her from the trauma of being thrown away— of which has become her defining trait of her personality. This humorous (and sometimes self-depreciative) sense of humor has been a great part of her charm and not just simply something she’s come to develop to defend herself from social and mental anxieties. However, such humor isn’t simply peppy sarcasm but can lead to annoyed side comments which due to her blunt nature can annoy others far more than her optimistic outlook.

Nathalie is blunt, as aforementioned, which is due to her dislike of deceptive lies and false promises. She feels like being honest is better than covering up thoughts even if it might be a better call to tell half-truths— a double-edged sword as it is. Despite her “absolute honesty” many find her company nice enough given her positive-thinking outlook, though on a few occasions it has led her to clash with realists and cynics alike who claim that her hopefulness is ridiculous to the point of absurdity. Her grandfather also warned her that she’d need to keep herself realistic so when things went the wrong direction she wouldn’t be emotionally devastated as she had before. Nathalie is trying to currently temper her optimism, but it isn’t as easy as she’d like.

She is also thirdly, quite “clingy” and “obsessive” to not only her way of life but her romantic interests. She finds it hard not to attach to things— her abandonment by her parents still acting as a shadow lingering over her. She knows it turns people away when her emotions get the best of her, but she reminds people that she can’t seem to help it and to give her mannerisms time to calm. She loves people as a whole and wants to not be as alone as she was when she was younger and her closest of friends realize this. [/indent]

[indent]The daughter of Joseph Knox & Katherine Townes, Nathalie was born in southeastern Michigan to fairly mundane circumstances. Her father was a Police Detective and her mother was an artist and educator— both of them disappearing in her life when she was seven years old. As the story goes, Nathalie recalls little about the incident that would result in her mother’s death as it had occurred away from her eyes and ears; herself being watched by a babysitter in her childhood neighborhood by the name of Lauren Hart. Her mother had been killed in a scuffle leaving her car as she was about to return to her home, with the culprit taking off into the night. This led to her father to dive into his work and realizing his inability to watch his daughter sent her off to the only capable relative to be raised until the situation changed— Katherine Townes’ father, D.E. Townes.

David Edward Townes (D.E. Townes) had his own reputation, but after the funeral of his daughter he had no issues taking his daughter in as his son-in-law attempted to find the culprit and bring him to justice. Nathalie moved upstate to a small town her grandfather had lived for several years, tempering his loneliness with the atmosphere the town gave him. D.E. was an acclaimed author, screenwriter, and a former (at that point, retired) Professor of English at the University of Michigan. It was under Nathalie’s grandfather that she would learn the power of a good story and a hopeful mind. She would become so inspired by his life and his stories that she would follow his stead and aspire to become a writer herself— a talent she manifested in middle school in the small town. She would end up going to Ashford University before gathering a bit of wanderlust; of which she began traveling with some money her grandfather had left for her.

Her wanderlust ended up taking her to Dublin, Ireland— a place where she would meet her current boyfriend, Rowan Carrington, though she had originally traveled to Dublin to talk to a semi-retired novelist named Malcolm Kavanagh, a friend of her grandfather. Taking up the knowledge from Malcolm and enjoying Rowan’s company she found herself staying in Dublin for awhile making it her current home. She was considering coming home for Christmas when the Carrington’s asked Rowan for a gathering of sorts; a gathering she wasn’t sure about until a phone call with her grandfather led her to go along with Rowan. Nathalie and Rowan have been dating for a few months now, a sidetrack Nathalie didn’t really expect during her traveling following her graduation from Ashford. She traveled to speak with an old friend of her grandfather’s, a fellow writer who had co-written a few novels with him. She ended up also meeting Rowan and finding a sort of chemistry there and ended up staying in Dublin for awhile. 

Rowan hasn’t told Nat a whole lot about his childhood or his family, being brief when he has mentioned them; a fact Nat didn’t pry for since she believed when he was comfortable he would tell her. As for Nat, Rowan is aware that her grandfather was a novelist and generally raised her, but she doesn’t talk about her mother and father at all. They spend most days talking about literature, art, and other things of the nature and Nat likes to think they have a pretty good connection.

Richard is well groomed, though even when he isn’t it seems to not do anything against his favor. [indent]Richard has grown up his entire life in the shadow of his wealthy parents, a fact that has defined his personality. Growing up the son of a wealthy real estate mogul and a successful corporate lawyer, there were “standards” to keep within the Davis legacy— something that Richard would grow to tolerate despite his discontentment with. Though he tolerated these expectations later on, he did not start as such— having vibrant arguments with his parents over his lack of freedom and choice. But if it was just independence that Richard exhibited he would be far less toxic in reality; his upbringing fundamentally creating a myriad of personality flaws that are unpleasant in nature. This includes a fiery temper that comes out frighteningly violent— created from his father’s insistence on harsh discipline during Richard’s childhood. The son becomes the father, as it is said.

Both of Richard’s parents tried to instill conservative and religious values in him at a young age; a concept that just didn’t take. Richard has found himself in opposite company of that intent calling himself an agnostic atheist and not really caring about politics in general. A fact that would frustrate his deeply religious father and card carrying Republican Party mother— thus drawing more lines in the sand between parent and child. Despite these differences his parents still realized that Richard was quite intelligent; doing exceptionally well in the classroom despite not even trying— a fact that would only amaze them as he grew more and more independent with age. But his “natural” intelligence was not an excuse for Richard’s behaviors out of the classroom; a fact that Alexander Davis was not willing to allow going on in his household.

If anything can be classified as the most significant trait learned in his childhood for Richard it would probably be the significance and power of wealth. It became so ingrained in Richard’s mind that he found himself obsessed with money and began to inflate its value in his mind. If he was wealthy, independent, and smart he could do anything and he’d never feel so alone in the world. This extended to a tendency towards self-centered narcissism and opportunistic traits that became buried under his ability to charm, intrigue, and trick others— including women. Women became a relief for Richard, inflating his ego due to his striking appearance and thus only making his bad personality traits worse off. As he believes he is the only thing that is important he values the opinions of others lowly which results into a condescending attitude at times; though many don’t realize it due to his clever wording that he had just insulted them.[/indent]

[indent]Richard Davis is one of several children from the union of Alexander Davis and Janet Schultz; the others being his younger sisters. As the only son, Alexander had many expectations for Richard as an “heir” and as a son; a fact that was evident by his parenting decisions throughout Richard’s life. The lessons didn’t turn out to be favorable results as Alexander Davis would learn; his and his wife’s grooming of their son resulting in much often the opposite result of what they wanted. Perhaps it was their lack of true care for setting him straight or an early desire for independence for why it failed, but regardless Richard took his talent for academics and began to try to path out his own way of life whilst he began to carefully navigate his parent’s expectations by high school as his financial aspirations grew more and more. He graduated at sixteen, and was featured a few times online for his escapades— escapades his parents eagerly silenced with their wealth and influence.

He set for Purdue initially, though his goals of fooling his father’s standards with an ivy league degree came later when he continued his academic pursuits at Stanford. Whilst he did just that, he also caught the eye of a young girl bearing the family name of Carrington; a family he was quite familiar with in reputation despite his father and mother consorting in different upper class circles. He found her interesting and perhaps one of the few he could relate to; he also found her attraction towards him as another way to fellate his ego. After Stanford he looked forward to “meeting” his family’s standards as well as moving forward with his own financial interests with a career as an “business investor and entrepreneur”. 

He wasn’t sure if he was going to join his father’s Real Estate empire, but eventually relented as his father assigned him a position under his own as Executive Vice President; an odd move that was criticized by others in the company but was written off. Months later, on a business trip to Germany tragedy struck his family— his father had perished in an incident in Berlin. Even more shocking (and ego-fellating) was that his father had left the majority of his shares to Richard as well as a lot of his financial fortune. 

He has since become one of the youngest CEO's and billionaires in the United States.
