Outwardly, he seems like a quiet, kind of shy kid. He tends to close himself off from other people and is not overly fond of being touched. He hates being hugged and cringes whenever anyone forces him into one. He doesn't talk very much but when he does, he tends to ramble on in a stream-of-consciousness style of speech. He's secretly kind of a geek and loves sci-fi, anime etc but hides this from his family and friends for fear of looking like a loser to them. This geeky side is not really as well hidden as he thinks though. He has a somewhat obsessive personality and when he finds something he likes, he tends to focus all of his attention on it for prolonged periods of time. When he was younger, he was obsessed with superheroes and spent pretty much all of his time reading comic books and even pretending to be his favourite heroes. He still reads comics but has hung up his costumes for good. Although he does still fantasize from time to time about being a superhero. Some other examples of Charlie's previous obsessions include music, motorcycles, archery, computer hacking, the zombie apocalypse and, for some reason, spinning tops....He still has a collection of them. Charlie is also very intelligent and actually graduated high school two years early, which he is very thankful for. He finds it somewhat hard to make friends as he's not the best at reading social situations. But sometimes the reason is that you're stupid and make bad decisions."

History

Charlie is the youngest of the Carrington siblings. The tenth child of Reginald and Cassiopeia Carrington, Charlie was raised more by his older siblings and a string of nannies than by his parents who were too busy running half the world. Or at least that's how it seemed to Charlie. Despite the fact that his parents paid him very little attention, Charlie was ostensibly well cared for. By the time he was old enough to realize it, many of his siblings had already left home but a few, closer to his age, remained. Charlie was particularly close to his sister, Marisol. Mari was only a couple of years older than Charlie and would always play with her little brother, which Charlie enjoyed, despite the fact that she had a tendency to get him into trouble. But like the rest of his brothers and sisters, there came a day when Mari left home too, leaving Charlie finally alone. But the strange thing is, Charlie was fine with this. Sure, he'd miss his sister but he rather enjoyed being alone. It gave him time to do all the things he wanted to do. Which usually meant reading a book or learning some new skill. Charlie had always been a somewhat "odd" child, at least by some peoples standards. He didn't really seem to handle social situations all that well but he was very intelligent for his age so it made perfect sense to him that he should lock himself away in the Carrington family library and study. He did eventually come at least somewhat out of his shell in high school where he made a few close friends who could overlook his eccentricities and see the kind hearted, goofball Charlie underneath. His relationship with these friends was strained somewhat when Charlie was pushed ahead in school and actually graduated two years early but he has managed to keep on good terms with most of them. Since leaving high school, Charlie has been courted by some of the most prestigious colleges in the country and even some abroad. He has chosen not to attend college yet however, much to the chagrin of his parents. Charlie was bullied all through high school for his intelligence. It was made all that much worse when he was pushed ahead two years. And so he has decided to wait until he is 18 to attend college so as to avoid looking even more socially awkward than he already is. Plus, he's much rather wait for his friends to catch up to him so they can attend together. Despite not yet attending college, Charlie has managed to secure an internship at Kodiak Tech, one of the worlds leading industries in new technology. KT's founder and C.E.O, Cody Alexander has taken a personal interest in Charlie and believes he may one day become one of his most valued employees. This is a dream job for Charlie as he has always been interested in the newest technology. Charlie may be one of the heirs to one of the wealthiest families in the country but many people believe he will go on to do great things and make a fortune of his own one day. Reginald Carrington was a mountain of a man to the boy. Tall, handsome, rich, powerful. The fact that Reginald paid his son very little attention didn't seem to matter to Charlie. For a time, Charlie wanted to be his father. Of course that gradually changed as Charlie got older and saw his father's ruthless nature close up. The goofy and awkward Charlie never really seemed to live up to Reginald's high expectations and Reginald let him know it. Charlie was kind of a scrawny kid. Reginald thought he should bulk up and look like a man. Charlie liked to read comic books. Reginald thought it was childish and he should grow up. The one thing about Charlie that his old man did seem to like was the fact that he was intelligent. When Charlie graduated from high school early, Reginald was unexpectedly delighted. Of course when Charlie chose not to attend college, Reginald's pride turned back into tried and true disappointment in his son. Truthfully, Charlie chose not to attend college straight away partly just to stick it to his parents. A small act of rebellion for all their years of disinterest in him. But in truth, Charlie still kind of longs for the day his father puts a hand on his shoulder and tells him he's proud of of him.

C A S S I O P E I A C A R R I N G T O N
"People always say you shouldn't talk to strangers. So I don't." Whereas Charlie always kind of looked up to his father, he never really felt the same way about his mother. The cold and detached Cassiopeia made her husband look positively emotional. That's not to say that Charlie ever disliked his mother. He didn't really have much of a chance to get to know her. Truthfully, it's the lack of emotion that defines the relationship between Charlie and his mother. Charlie may resent the fact that the woman that gave birth to him was never really around when he was growing up but he got along just fine without her and knows that he always will. Charlie uses the words "Mother" and "Father" when addressing his parents but there's always a subtle undercurrent of sarcasm to his tone when he does.

G A B R I E L C A R R I N G T O N
"I've often wondered what it would be like to have someone like Gabriel around while I was growing up...I think I would have liked that." There's a large age difference between the second eldest and the youngest of the Carrington siblings and Gabriel had left home before Charlie was even born. The two have only met a handful of times but thanks to social media, they manage to stay at least somewhat in contact. Charlie has actually come to idolize his eldest brother but this is based more around Charlie's idea of Gabriel and things he's seen online through social media and the like. He'd never really admit it to anyone but Gabriel is the kind of man Charlie wants to be. Or at least he thinks he is.

D A N I E L C A R R I N G T O N
"If a piece of wood had a personality...It would be more interesting than Daniel.....Ok that's a little harsh. He's a nice guy...I guess....*shrug*" If Gabriel is everything Charlie wants to be, then Daniel is everything he hopes he doesn't become. He finds Daniel dreadfully dull. From his career choice to his fashion sense. But at the same time, there's something about Daniel that Charlie recognizes as familiar in himself. He's somewhat worried that he'll become much hike Daniel. Despite his dislike, or more accurately disinterest, in Daniel, Charlie does his very best to at least try to be nice to him. Mostly because he hopes that if the day ever comes where he ends up just like Daniel, people will at least try to be nice to him too. Even if he is dreadfully boring.

R O W A N C A R R I N G T O N
"What can I say about someone I've never really met? The man is a mystery." Charlie has vague memories of his brother Rowan from when he was very young but that's about it. Rowan has spent the majority of Charlie's life living in another country and while Charlie has thought about taking a trip to meet Rowan, he feels like it would ultimately just be an awkward experience for both of them.

T A T I A N A C A R R I N G T O N
"Tatia is proof that you family is more than just DNA." While Charlie and Tatiana aren't exactly the closest of siblings, Charlie still knows his adoptive sister better than many of his biological family. This is mostly due to Charlie pestering Tatiana with endless questions about her life before becoming a Carrington. Other cultures have always fascinated Charlie and having someone in his own family who was born into another culture brings out Charlie's inner geek. Charlie has mostly given up on his questioning of Tatiana in recent years however after Marisol pointed out to him that Tatia may not want to talk about her life before joining the family. Charlie feels somewhat awkward about talking to Tatiana now as he's embarrassed that he was unable to see that she was uncomfortable. His unrelenting curiosity does get the better of him sometimes though.

O L I V I A C A R R I N G T O N
"Livvy's cool. Way cooler than me anyway." You may be hard pressed to find two Carringtons more dissimilar than Olivia and Charlie. Charlie is quiet and awkward but Liv is always the life of every party. Charlie's likes include comics, bad movies and zombies where Liv's include volleyball, makeup and shopping. Despite this, Charlie has always cared a great deal about Livvy, who has tried more than once, usually unsuccessfully, to make him far cooler than he actually is. Charlie and Liv don't talk as much these days as they did when they were both children but they do keep in touch. Charlie was actually able to help out his friend Amelia, who was looking to start a career in fashion, by introducing her to Liv. Charlie is also really looking forward to the birth of Liv's baby. Mostly because it means he won't be the youngest in the family anymore.

A V E R Y C A R R I N G T O N
"Avery may be the one person who makes me look socially normal." Charlie always kind of related to Avery, even from an early age. His older brother was just as quiet as he was, if not more so. Charlie always heard people refer to Avery as shy but he knew that wasn't the case. Avery just liked being quiet. Charlie knew this because he was the same. Charlie feels like he understands Avery in a way that the rest of the family don't. Charlie and Avery haven't really spoken at all since the elder brother left home, aside from the occasional online message. But given that both are naturally quiet individuals, it's perhaps not surprising.

M A R I S O L C A R R I N G T O N
"We used to be way closer but we still talk...Ok, Mari talks. I mostly just listen." There was a point in time where Marisol was practically Charlie's best friend. Of all his siblings, she is the one closest to Charlie's age. When everyone else had run off to live their own lives, Mari was still around. She played with him, talked with him and they generally got into mischief together. Mari often protected Charlie from their strict father and Charlie attempted to do the same for her. In fact, the only times Charlie has ever really stood up to his father is in defence of his sister. Of course, when she was old enough, Mari left too and Charlie was the only Carrington left at home. Charlie doesn't resent his sister leaving him alone. They still talk regularly and Charlie is proud of everything she has accomplished so far in her life.

A M E L I A G A R C I A
"Lia is my best friend. She's always there for me and my life would be much less fun without her." There is perhaps no one that Charlie feels more comfortable around than his best friend Amelia. She is the one person he feels comfortable enough with to be entirely himself. Around pretty much everyone else, Charlie puts on a show. He pretends to like what others like. He pretends to be someone he's not. But around Amelia, he's perfectly comfortable talking about comic books or science or zombies. She accepts him entirely as he is and he appreciates that. Charlie has even invited Amelia to accompany him on the Carrington family vacation. Mostly because he feels he'll need some emotional support when dealing with his entire family for the first time. He's entirely oblivious to the implications of inviting a female friend on vacation.
