The frozen land the invaders come from is scarce and harsh, leading its warriors to take to the sea in search of more bounteous lands. And the Highlands is just the place they seemed to be looking for. Lush green farms and flocks aplenty, not to mention the hidden treasures of the coastal monasteries. But there is no gold hidden in the clanlands of the MacConnich. These proud coastal-farming warriors have stuck fast to their more pagan ways. The small chapel the rests under the protection of the laird chieftain is merely to satisfy the few Christians in their midst. There is no gold here, but the fertile land and large flocks of the clan. And that is worth its weight in gold. Especially if you be starved from storms at sea. But be wary to, wanderer, for the clansmen of the MacConnich are strong fighters. So perhaps a little lie of wandering merchants is better than fire and blood for a pack of starving sea wolves, weakened by their less than pleasant journey.
