Because it's kind of hard to invade America. Like, really hard. America is invincible, defensively speaking.

I would have assumed that the United Republic used some sort of overpowered sci-fi experimental tech themselves to beat the US, but the OP seemed to imply an amphibious assault, so I thought I would comment on how ridiculous that is.

That isn't to say I'm any less interested. I like ridiculous things just as much as sensible ones. I just couldn't resist making the comment.
