Haakon also carries an axe and a seax style knife on his belt at all times. Personality: Haakon is young and a little overwhelmed at the idea of being a chieftain. He is generally easy going, listens to wise counsel when it's offered, but is occasionally frustrated and rush's into situations he is not prepared for. He follows all the gods of the Aesir and the Vanir, but he holds Odin the Allfather above all others. Across his back, he has a tattoo of Odin's sacred animal: a Raven. History: When Harald Ivarson, Jarl of Runheim, succumbed to a plague that cut through the village, everyone looked to Haakon for guidance. The chieftain's only remaining son, Haakon believes the only way to save Runheim is by bringing wealth from abroad. He now looks for experienced warriors and sailors from far and wide to take him to the Emerald Isle. The plague burned through the village of Runheim like a wildfire, and as many as two in five were killed. Among these were Jarl Harald, his eldest son Egil, and Egil's young wife Hilda. Haakon survived, along with his mother and Egil's daughter Gunhilde, who is no older than three summers. Along with the people, the harvest also suffered, and the tithe to the King Horik cannot be paid. If the King does not get his due, he will surely punish the village. Without any other options, Haakon takes the only raiding ship in the village and proposes an out of season raid to the east. If sucessful, Haakon can save his people and rebuild their lives. If he fails, then he can only hope that Valhalla will accept him.
