Such weapons, at least for Japan, are rarities only for major invasions, such as the attack on Kanto in the last post, given that most fighting at the moment is dealing with rogue tribes, and infighting between feudal lords, so they are rarely used. 

Also, i have a plan for what will happen with a lot of that new land in the future.
