My main problem is that some of the elements it borrowed, it felt like it borrowed obligatorily and the movie would have been better if it hadn't. 

[hider=Star Wars Force Awakens Spoiler] This should have been the search for Skywalker. Blowing up the Starkiller super easy came out of nowhere and leaves us with nowhere to go from here. And serious, was Fin like, "Yeah, I know they have this star-system destroying weapon, but, it just doesn't seem important to mention. Let's keep looking for Luke!" And the good guys already had the complete blueprints of the Starkiller. Was it built through official means with Republic inspectors stopping by and going, "Yup, yup, all to code, good job including railings this time. Have fun and eat stars responsibly!" The Starkiller should have been foreshadowed by the speech-o-doom and firing, but should not have been the climax of the film, but rather the primary subject of Eight.[/hider]
