It's been decades since the collapse of the [b]Golden Empire[/b], and the successor states of the [b]Confederacy[/b] rule over most of the old territory not so much homogeneous but as a mosaic of mutually beneficial relationships- though with some infighting as such can't be avoided. Old orthodoxy has given way to a mosaic of political and cultural reformations, yet free from the old master they stand nominally united. However, as more and more ships, vessels capable of sailing the [b]White and Black Seas[/b], are spotted from the south, fear of the [b]Cloud Kingdoms[/b] rises. For, if they can conquer the once [i]insurmountable[/i] waves and storms, then they represent a threat far greater than even the corrupted bloodthirsty decadence of the [b]Golden Empire[/b]. No ship is perfect, and so fortune has fallen upon the [b]Confederacy[/b] as a [b]Cloud Kingdom[/b] shipwreck washed upon their shores- the design incomplete and materials damaged, Confederates hastily brought it onto dry land by a fleet of smaller tug boats so it could be studied. Now, the fledging town of [b]Shattered Jaw[/b] within the [b]Scorched Sea[/b] is finding resources pumped into it, for its location in relatively calm coastline at the far north of the [b]Confederacy[/b] far from the southern [b]Cloud Kingdoms[/b] makes it an ideal place to try to reconstruct the ship so that the [b]Confederacy[/b] need not be so afraid of the wave riders. It's an ideal place to create a bold armada. The RP would follow various settlers in the rapidly growing town of [b]Shattered Jaw[/b], militia sorts, mercenaries, adventurers, what have you, who gathered there for whatever reasons with the goal of protecting the town as it grows and draws more attention, so that the [b]Confederacy[/b] has some more stable footing with prospective enemies. They'll form the linchpin of the local garrison, and become a key part of the defence of the project. Various natural problems, and man-made ones will have to be overcome- for example, while the town is far from the Cloud Kingdoms, it is not too far from their neighbours of the north, the [b]Republics of the Great Plains[/b]. The [b]Confederacy[/b] is not perfectly united either, and some do not like placing their trust in the once [b]Imperial State[/b] that holds [b]Shattered Jaw[/b] in its demesne. The [b]Sunken Throne[/b], the [b]Marked Stone Kingdom[/b], and the [b]Bandit Coast[/b] are all also local threats to the project, each with their own reasons for wanting to prevent it. This is never minding the wild storms that rage in the [b]White Sea[/b], and the dangers of the [b]Scorched Sea[/b] within which the town resides as well. Can the Garrison keep [b]Shattered Jaw[/b] safe through it all? Probably not, else there wouldn't be drama. [i]BUT THEY CAN SURE TRY.[/i] TL;DR: guys wanna build a ship- [i][b]it isn't easy[/b][/i], so you have to keep them ( and the town ) alive and safe while they try.
