It wasn't her that resisted it. It was her clothes. You fired a ray (typically narrow) into her back. The Saber cloth diffused the ray, it didn't even touch her. Suffice to say, if you had, the nanomites would have been overloaded and Cano would have taken the full brunt of the attack. Which depending on the power of his ray, would have severely burned her like any other human. Or if it was pretty powerful, exploded her.
