Something else intriguing is the fact that not all multiples of gems seem to share appearances. For example, the two pearls look vastly different, as do the diamonds. And we're told Amethyst is quite the runt. And we have seen that gems can alter their appearance upon reforming; perhaps this unity of appearance is another part of homeworld culture, pushing on the idea that certain gems are all the same and thus disposable.

[s]And if rubies were so disposable simply because there were many...Imagine a gem like Talc or Soapstone, or heck, even Eve if you ignore the fact evenkite is rare. Oh my god. I feel kinda sick thinking about it.
