[@Akayaofthemoon] I think that really ties in with the whole "welcome to earth" theme of the past few episodes.  Peridot and the other homeworld gems don't understand how Earth can even function without ever individual having a strict role to adhere to.  That really came out with Peridot obviously, and we saw themes of it when we saw how the gems react to Garnet's fusion.  I can see how that would really upset the diamonds since you can't control something you don't fully understand.  It also gets me wondering about something else, maybe all of the Crystal Gems in the rebellion were misfit gems in some way?
