I actually think that it's a really neat feature; the issue perhaps lies in that it's too detailed. 

Something along the lines of a timeline could perhaps would better, for example:

Elsewhere in the city, Fairchild Electronics is promoting a household device used to neutralise Hyperhuman threats. The event is attracting a degree of unwanted attention.

I feel this gives us all (as well as prospective late-comers to the story) an easy way with which to keep up/catch up with events IC, without removing the need to read recent posts in order to understand current events. It would also be considerably easier for Wraith to manage, as in the long-run writing a summary of each post would likely become rather tedious.
