[@Aisling] I've heard that the health care system in the US is worse than the one in Germany. It's 100% private, there's no real statutory health insurance that everyone can afford, even if you have a health insurance, you still have to pay many things on your own,... that's not exactly what I call 'good'. Here in Germany, everyone has to have a health insurance. Half of the membership fee is payed by the employee, while the other half is payed by the employer. And for those who can't afford it, membership is free. Then, most hospitals are state-funded, whoch means that they have to be less greedy for money, lowering the number of unnecessary treatment that is done.
