Josephine smiled tightly, "I wish I could have done more." She said, "No one should ever be treated that way." She looked down at her lap, fingers playing with each other. She looked up when the Captain and his son walked into the room. The expression on Elijah's face broke her heart and she got up to sit by him, putting a hand on his and squeezing it. "Alice is a strong girl. She'll be up and picking fights in no time." She said, trying to lift the gloom in the room. "Let's hope not." Sebastian said, sitting beside his wife. "Picking fights is what got her arrested in the first place." Josephine colored and started to stammer, "I-I didn't mean- I just..." The captain smiled, "It's alright, Jo. Optimism is needed right now, however poorly worded it may have been. Thank you." He put an arm around Marabelle and pulled her in close, kissing the top of her head.
