He ate with the biggest grin and nodded his head, reacting to every word that came out of her mouth. The smile grew tenfold as she joked around with him about never having or holding a man's heart, and it made him chuckle as she began chanting on his heart. If only Sam was man enough to actually say what he was feeling then things would and could be different. The two were close, and Sam was scared. He didn't believe in himself as much as he should, especially for a girl like Tas, his confidence was always somewhere else. It didn't help that Tas was still having her fling with Connor, something Sam disapproved of but was respecting the decision she made on her own. It wasn't that Connor was a bad guy, Sam had hung out with him and some ladies a few times, it was just that he didn't want to force Tas into anything she wasn't ready for, something he wasn't ready for either. As she rested her head down on his lap, tickling and teasing his chin with a blade of grass he responded to her question, explaining to her that he had just sat there, watching the meeting with the clients as his boss and Ryan a senior member of the creative team was pitching their campaign ideas. "I didn't say a word the whole meeting, but honestly, it was exciting just to sit there. That'll be me one day though," the man smiled. "With the clients pitching my ideas, while you're going to be leading the hospital as the Chief of Surgery or something!" Finishing up his story, Sam had a jump scare as a wild Claire appeared out of nowhere. It wasn't just the wannabe chef who had jumped though as Tas rose up from his lap the instant Claire jumped in. "Hello," Sam said, bouncing back from the scare. In the second Claire appeared another second and Sam was left alone with the picnic mess. He was about to give a proper farewell when the two girls dashed away, leaving Sam with his smile, waving goodbye. But what felt like a third second later was Tas running back and giving Sam a very loving and tight hug. "I'll hold you to your promise, and thanks for reminding me." As the embrace ended he watched the two friends stroll off. "Should probably get back..."
After work Sam had quickly ran back home and changed into a new outfit(dark green top instead of blue), opting out of taking a shower, because he honestly didn't smell that bad. He shot out a few sprays of his cologne and rushed out of the house, not even thinking about his roommates until he was locking the door. On the outside he shouted to them, hoping to catch if any of them were home, "I'll meet you guys at Nat's, gotta run to my parents first!" "Umma," Sam said as he walked into the kitchen of his parents restaurant. "I'm here for the food for Natalya's birthday." "That's it?" His mom snapped back, "Not to see me or your father? What about a girlfriend, are you married yet?" "Umma..." Sam said hesitantly, with a sighing chuckle. "I miss you too. And no girlfriend yet. But I got you a grandchild, they'll be here in a few months." With a smile she rose her hand and slapped Sam on the arm, "Stop your joking! You put my hopes up when you joke like that!" "I'm serious," Samson said, changing his tone. "It's a girl and she'll be here in a few months, I'm just not marrying the the mom." "Your food is over there," his mom replied, pointing to the back. Everything had been packed up into bags easy enough for Sam to carry out alone. "I taught you better than that, stop lying." With a wink she gave Sam a kiss on the cheek and sent him off to his friend's birthday party. "Tell Natalya I said happy birthday, also tell Natasha I miss her and she needs to stop by soon!" "Anything for you, Umma." Sam said, kissing his mom on the cheek as he left. He soon plopped into the car, tossing the food into the backseats as he drove off to the party.
