"Intelligence and naivety are two separate things. I have seen brilliant men make stupid mistakes due to sheer inexperience, and experienced men make mistakes due to stupidity. To trust the judgement of even a prodigal child would be foolishness, as such a child would simply not have experienced the world sufficiently to understand it's workings to any great extent. It should be separated from the Elf as soon as possible, and sent to a responsible guardian.
