Having this tall structure, he doesn't have a particularly muscular build compared to some of the others possibly found hunting The Lost. His hair is of a shade between Jet-Black and Dark-Brunette and is in the form of a very short and ruffled style. His eyes are more of a dark cyan shade, more noticeable amongst the Green Attire he usually wears. His posture is high, and the only unnatural feature on himself is the very faint and mild childhood scratch on the left cheek blended into his faint stubble. --- Role Mid-Low Ranged Combat - Designer - Trapper Font Phantom Pain A Force that doesn't inflict damage itself, but rather assists it. Simply locking up certain muscles on an individual to put them in a sort of Paralysed state. This is useful whenever trying to confront something without resorting to violence, or simply locking up a foe to leave it in the line of sight of anyone to strike with little resistance. The method mainly consists of split strains of either Mental or Physical manipulation. The first including tricking the mind that it is paralyzed as a body, causing the body to be limp and lifeless in certain limbs and muscles, whereas it can also physically stop certain muscles from moving, stiffening them up rather than letting it fall limp. The effects can either be halted manually or by wearing off, both having numb areas on the body were the Phantom Pain had effected. Color Forest Weapon At first, the type is of a longbow with moderately thicker-limbs than a standard, also including a powerful resonate material acting as the Bow-String. This fires powerful projectiles, unlike standard arrows, at mid-to-long ranges. Compatible with only two kinds of resonate, Yellow and Orange, it has small capabilities of adding additional effects. Orange-Based can be used tactically, making more of small landscaping rather than direct combat. His practice has made him capable of moderately fast firing and reloading speed. With the push of a button, however, the bow's upper and lower limbs switch out two sharp blades, converting the bow into a moderately large staff equipped with a blade either side. This gives the Riser's strength a full purpose, allowing it to be used freely for Close Quarters Combat, with a little extra range added on. This is compatible with two types of resonate, Yellow and Violet. --- Personality What can seem quite amusing for someone of such height and structure is his hesitation. Vern was never the most confident of souls to ever be recruited within Echo, and surely won't be the most hidden. There are times where a plan that involves him doing some of his closer encounters can seem just like a death-threat, making his agreement quite unbalanced. Quick-thinking situations on the combat field can sometimes prove to be rather a problem, however off-field his ability to become a small-scale spokesperson almost cancels out the situation. Considered two different sides of Vern, the constant change in confidence is almost unpredictable, though mostly on a calmer type. For his nice little passion for building small, though possibly useless, tools and decorations make him sometimes rather solitary when he has the time to do so. It could be a simple wooden-weave bowl, a small makeshift knife for simply carving more wood or some sort of Smooth-stone cup holder, what he comes up with can be most annoying? More to the point, it's difficult to stop him from somehow sneaking in a decoration in a place or two... One part of him that he knows hatred will follow on from is his beliefs. It's simple, with one word. Atheism. He isn't in an area where he hates religious beliefs or the people's views on it, as he has always respected their sense of community. The thing he hates, however, is their mass disagreement towards one another. It's almost the complete opposite of what Vern is as a person. If he could truly hope one thing as much as the defeat of The Lost, it's for the inter-species fighting to just end. Background As a child, he loved the outdoors, Vern did. Living with a single Mother, an almost completely ignorant sibling and several employed locals on a Farm once owned by his other-parent, he grew up learning how to put himself into good use. Starting simply with using basic tools to lay out items to sell, he helped produce a good few nick-nacks to sell alongside the crops they usually sold. In his spare time, when working for his Mother wasn't completely taking up his life, he would continue to carve small wooden decorations from the excess remains of trees brought over by some of the material-grabbers employed at that time. Though he never really earned that much, he was credited for his small talent and praised by a few higher-up travellers looking to buy certain foods produced at the farming settlement. His first taste in some sort of combat was when an employee, named Nark, invited him out to join the material-gathering group at around his 8th Birthday. It wasn't anything dangerous, as such, but it meant he could do some more exploring, and perhaps gather a tree just for his own personal desires. Whilst participating in this, the group came across some of the local prey usually hunted for the meat placed on their tables. More for a joke, they decided to let Vern take pot-shots at it with the makeshift longbow the group had been using currently. They knew the boy had minor training in shooting static targets, so not much was to be expected. As you'd expect, Vern missed the shot he was given. Sort of frustrated at his loss, he began to mix archery into his free-time schedule. That was the time when he began to be aware of the lack of technology used on his homestead, and how many traditional methods of life were used [Though he wasn't alienated to the world of advancement]. As time progressed, he improved on his Bowman skills, and did manage to gather his own few prey. It improved his overall fitness to a more useful standard, one that could potentially land him jobs elsewhere. When news of local threats relating to dangerous sightings of Category 1 & 2 variants of The Lost many years later, a few of his own employees went wandering their own way into attempting to get into the Echo. This was their hope to sign up and become protectors of mainly their homes and families, seeing as their farming industry island was prone to no protection. With that reason said, it was fair to say Vern had used the same one. Being somewhat low-in the confidence of getting in, he hoped to protect his home, as well as the World he had heard about so much around him. As he joined, and with extra training in design, combat and weapon-to-weapon close-ranged combat, he began to fit in amongst the ranks of the Hunters and Huntresses around him. It's no wonder he becomes awestruck from everywhere he'll travel to, whether battlezone or simple trips. Originally, he planned on working as a designer for people who hadn't the ability to craft their own weapons. However, during his combat training, the path was changed. That, although, does not mean he didn't stop. This was shortened slightly by his disappointment in his own actions; his own self-esteem being quite low. Eventually, he made a single weapon he could claim as something to be proud of...his very own armament. During his first year, the island he grew up on fell prey to the almost mythical threat of The Lost, which proved to hinder his performance slightly, and held him back from keeping up with many of the greats. It was only recently he had become excessively skilled enough to gain small recognition, whether it was good or bad...
