[@HylianRose]Lemme edit mine. Vern has been a part of Echo for about 6 Years, joining at 19 like most of the newly employed workers on his homestead. However, it was after two years in which he actually got into the combat side of the job, orginally being a weapon designer and repairman. It was after the group of surrounding Islands, which was about 5 small village and town-sized atolls, had fallen prey to the Lost when he began getting into the Hunting Business, so technically 4 Years on the Field. He's, as pointed out, still not known as much because of his slow progression during the start of his career in fighting and combat.
