THE NINE REALMS AND ITS RACES
Alfheim is between the realms of Asgard and Muspelheim. Overview The Light Elves are beautiful creatures, considered to be the "guardian angels" of the Nine Realms. With their domain in the beautiful forest realm of Alfheim, these Elves were lead by the Elven King Thranduil. With Elven magic enriching the land, this magic woodland will not let evil enter. As minor gods of nature and fertility, the Light Elves were accounted for their exceptional beauty, wisdom, and appreciation for nature. They were also known for their inspiration in magic, music, and smithcraft. Characteristics The Elven race is very similar to the Asgardians and the Vanir. Unlike them, however, the Elves are close-cousin relatives of the Fae, therefore possessing a physical immortal life-span; their bodies do not age once they reach adulthood, and they do not become elderly or die of old age. They can still be killed by physical injury, however. For all Elven beings, the Light Elves are (generally) unusually beautiful of face and body, to the point that there is very little physical difference between the males and females. In physical aspects, the elves have way better vision and hearing than any other specie. So good their vision is, they are best known in the skill of archery. In the race of Elven beings, the Light Elves are indeed closest to the kin of the Fae, given that they possess ethereal grace and various powers. They are far better skilled in combat than any other being in the Nine Realms, and are far better in the use of craftsmanship, second to the Dwarves. They can make the most magical of weapons and artifacts, that even other races go to them for possession of these objects. Elves are light on foot, meaning they can travel long distances without leaving tracks, and can often walk lightly across snow where their feet don't sink in. Even though they require sleep, they are able to enter a waking meditative state to regain their strength. Overview The Dark Elves are the contrasting clan to the Light Elves, who dwell within dense areas to rid themselves from the users of magic. Their name comes from the Quenya word "Moriquendi", meaning "Dark-folk" or "Elves of Darkness". As they have a natural weakness towards magic, these Elves do not see the light as much as the Light Elves do, as they reside in the dense, heavy woodland realm of Svartalfheim. Led by the Elven-lord, Algrim Eärendilion, the Dark Elves were described as being less wise and more dangerous than the contrasting Light Elves. Overview The Dwarves, also called "Khazad" or "Gonnhirrim", meaning "Stunted People" or "Masters of Stone", are a race that dwell in mountains and underground tunnels, who became famous for their craftsmanship skills, especially when dealing with metal or stone. Unlike the rest of the Nine Realms, their home in the realm of Nidavellir wasn't led by the system of monarchy, making them more of a self-governed race.
