Slinging his arm around Feliks' shoulder, he laughed with him as Claire danced around. Well, it was a bloody leprechaun dancing around on stage. Who wouldn't laugh? He decided that he didn't want to spend the evening sulking about it (this may have been influenced by alcohol) and decided to deal with everything the next morning. He lived in the present, thank you very much. When the leprechaun dropped the mic, he clapped excitedly with Feliks. He looked around the room, only to see Echo clutching one of her brandy bottles. He went to go to her but was distracted when Connor began singing. Jejomar knew right from the get go that Connor was singing to Eva. His sister's crush on him was very obvious and it seemed like the man went for it. All throughout the song, he was enraptured in the performance. He had to give the performer credit, he knew how to entertain a crowd. He was surprised at Eva's forwardness but then surprise was quickly replaced by happiness and then.... Jealousy? He took a double take on himself, disgust swelling in him. He was supposed to be happy for her, not jealous. He risked another glance at Echo, packing away her things while blushing a faint red, placing an empty brandy bottle on the table. She bowed in the direction of Tas before saying her apologies. Jay's mind was a blur. She was going to leave. Leave him. These words echoed in his mind, bouncing between the walls of his skull. "Oh hell no." He whispered brazenly as he slipped out of Feliks' grasp. Eva and Connor stepped off the stage after their kiss, leaving the mic on the floor. He took a stool and a mic stand next to the stage, placing them in the middle. He went to input the code in the mic as he sat down. He looked up to see her walking slowly towards the door, eyes focused on leaving. The Filipino tilted his fedora to cover his face before a strange sound escaped his lips. A deep, soft, husky voice that enraptures the crowds. A singing voice, one filled with hurt. The acoustic guitar strum emitted from the karaoke machine signalled his start. If you walk away, I'll walk away First tell me which road you will take I don't want to risk our paths crossing some day So you walk that way, I'll walk this way Jay let everything go, tears flowing from underneath his hat. The crowd was silent before him, most of them gob smacked at his voice. This was not how Karaoke Jay sung. But they misunderstood, in a way. This was Jejomar Salinas. Unknown to him, Echo stopped in the middle of the doorway, swerving her head towards him. The man continued to sing, eyes closed. And the future hangs over our heads And it moves with each current event Until it falls all around like a cold steady rain Just stay in when it's looking this way Echo widened her eyes, lips parting slightly. She stepped back from the door letting it slowly go back. She dropped her bag before slowly walking towards the voice, a furious blush on her face. Of course she knew the song, it was a classic duet. It was usually sung by people who wanted to... say something. She noticed another mic laying on the ground, spilling from a karaoke bag. Picking it up, she began singing with him. The words "SINGER #2 HAS JOINED" appeared on the TV. And the moon's laying low in the sky Forcing everything metal to shine And the sidewalk holds diamonds like the jewelry store case They argue walk this way, no, walk this way And Laura's asleep in my bed As I'm leaving she wakes up and says "I dreamed you were carried away on the crest of a wave Baby don't go away, come here" Jejomar looked up, watching as Echo slowly walked towards him, mic in hand, singing with him. There was a sweet contrast between the two, a beautiful mix of low and high notes. Her voice was sweet, shy and soft, a very soothing voice. She walked up onto the stage, pulling up another stool and sitting next to him. He beamed at her before focusing back on the song. And there's kids playing guns in the street And ones pointing his tree branch at me So I put my hands up I say "enough is enough, If you walk away, I'll walk away" And he shot me dead I found a liquid cure From my landlocked blues It'll pass away like a slow parade It's leaving but I don't know how soon And the world's got me dizzy again You think after 22 years I'd be used to the spin And it only feels worse when I stay in one place So I'm always pacing around or walking away I keep drinking the ink from my pen And I'm balancing history books up on my head But it all boils down to one quotable phrase If you love something, give it away They continued together, eyes locked with each other. Doe eyes met soft, both sparkling. They stood as one, taking a step closer towards each other. Both of them blushing a furious red, heart pumping, breath hot. They inched towards one another as they sang, Jay politely setting his fedora down on the floor. But greed is a bottomless pit And our freedom's a joke We're just taking a piss And the whole world must watch the sad comic display If you're still free start running away Cause we're coming for you! I've grown tired of holding this pose I feel more like a stranger each time I come home So I'm making a deal with the devils of fame Saying "let me walk away, please" You'll be free child once you have died From the shackles of language and measurable time And then we can trade places, play musical graves Till then walk away, walk away Jay wrapped his arms around her bringing Echo closer to him. His heart was beating but he's never been this relaxed. He was panicking inside but was comfortable so close to her. Her breath was warm, tickling him through his thin layers. He looked down at her brown locks, those irresistibly cute eyes, petite face and couldn't help but intake a sharp breath of air as he sang with her. So I'm up at dawn Putting on my shoes I just want to make a clean escape I'm leaving but I don't know where to I know I'm leaving but I don't know where to With the last line, Jay leaned in. He was surprised, she didn't revolt or back away, Echo merely closed her eyes. Their lips touched, a spark of emotion flowed through, exploding in the middle. His passion, desire, hope, love and frustrations all went into this one kiss. It was like heaven but like all things, it came to an abrupt end. They parted, eyes still locked on one another. "E-Echo, I w-wanted you to s-stay..." He paused, gulping as his heart went a thousand beats a second. "I d-don't want y-you to w-walk away." If they realised that everyone was watching them at that single moment, they would've had a heart attack. Echo put a finger on his lips before pouncing on him, squeezing the man in a bear hug, a comical sight if it wasn't so intimate. "Don't worry, I'll walk with you."
