Terribly sorry that this took so long, just been busy with stuff. Hope it's alright by the high standards already set! Often never showing a crack of a smile or even that much of a scowl, his face seems to be in an almost permanent glare most of the time, even when speaking. Him speaking at all is not an entirely common occurrence; he seems to prefer to keep quiet and focus on what he's good at. Over time, those who interact with him begin to understand that Lu is a very cold individual, with little regard or empathy toward other human beings without stepping into misanthropy. In contrast, he shows a love for animals, showing affection toward them albeit with the same stone cold look on his face that he displays to everyone else. Despite these aspects that could easily be described as failings in normal society, Lu still shows some bright sides. He is clearly intelligent, showing an analytical and tactical prowess fitting for the organization that's selected him. Although he seems unable to empathize on an emotional level with others, he isn't completely callous; he isn't about to leave someone behind if he can help it and has a bold way about him, willing to stand up for those he trusts or who at least seem to be on his side. Surprisingly enough, he isn't entirely humourless, although a laugh from him is rare. His father was the one to notice as the young boy grew towards schooling age however, that he was intelligent. He would find and actually borrow logic puzzles that he could get just to solve them, and often spent more time studying insects and their behaviour rather than playing with the other children around. Fearing for his son's future and wasted potential, Xiaopeng began pushing his son toward academic pursuits, warning him away from the time wasting of friends and other distractions. He tried to ingrain in him the beliefs of the People's Republic as well as constant studying and although his young son began to shine in academic pursuits, his father's political badgering only fostered anti-communist and anti-government sentiment in the boy. He continued to study hard and began scoring top marks, at the highest of his class. Although he continued to make his parents proud, it was clear to see that he was becoming socially inept and somewhat cut off. To act as a kind of surrogate to the typical friends he should have had, his father got him not only a dog but an ant farm. When not being made to study, Xiaopeng would spend all his days with his faithful companion and his farm, often taking notes about their habits and their numbers, having an exceptional ability to count and calculate, predicting their behaviours ahead of time. With the harshness of not only his father but the teachers in his school and the rejection he faced from his peers thanks to his incompetence socially as a child, he became far more withdrawn and felt that people didn't understand him, only his best friend. When his dog passed away in his teenage years, Xiaopeng felt actual grief and his father, despite hesitation had to give the dog his own gravesite before his son would fully listen to him again about studying once more. Once the student began approaching adult age, he was listed on records as a 'potential troublemaker'. There was theories about his possibility as a dissident or opposition to the communist belief of the government, but no solid proof of such. Questioning by education authorities turned up with nothing to suggest anything but a model citizen. Eventually, the young man would move on to the Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, away from the influences of his parents and family. Still, even without them he focused almost entirely on his work with little time for making friends, parties or social gatherings. He continued to perform at the highest level and was a favourite of his tutors, although generally sneered at by his peers. He became an expert in the human anatomy and physiology, receiving his doctorate at the end of his four year course. Now at the age of 22, Xiaopeng returned to Shanxi to work as a Research Assistant at the University of Science and Technology. He would often be sent 'on loan' to universities in the United Kingdom to aid there thanks to his previous tutors going on about how gifted he was. While there, he seemed to have a real knack for picking up languages, learning both English and Punjabi during his stays there and while back home to prepare for later visits. However, a year into his work he was told by his supervisor to leave and that a man from the Ministry of State Security wanted to speak with him. Confused by what was going on, the government official informed him that the People's Republic wished to put him forward into work for a neutral, independent and international organization due to their belief that he was a neutral citizen without a loyalty to the government or having ever worked for them as well as his clear intelligence and 'unique demeanour'. Unsure of what it meant, but intrigued, the young Assistant considered and looked into the offer. After a few days of thought, he returned the letter given to him with a strange name at the top - Argus.
