We hear the narration being recited by Will Turner as a man was being dragged from the Fort Charles prison with shackles at his wrists and feet. Sentenced to hang till death, he briefly makes eye contact with his wife before the panel drops out from under his feet, resulting him to die. Pirate ships are seen sailing at sea before a fight ensues between the pirates and the British Navy; the pirate explodes and begins to sink. We then see a young boy being dragged out from the wreckage by Jamaican casualties. Near them, a golden medallion is seen half submerged within the sand. Will Turner himself, as an adult, awakens from his dream as he lays in the blacksmith forge. The forge itself had closed windows, making the area a little shady in the daylight. Splashing water on his face, he remembers that he has an important delivery to complete: a very nice sword for the Governor, which was going to be given to the Commodore at his promotion ceremony. Wearing rough clothing that was typical for a commoner, with a tiny bit of formal to it, he rides a transporting carriage towards a wealthy mansion while holding a long presentation case that was holding the sword. Will's coachman opens the door for him and he approaches the estate, already feeling out of place. Knocking on an expensive looking door, an upperclassman opens the door for him and allows him to enter. As he looks around, he tries to get to know his surroundings. While looking at one of the candles hanging on the wall, he fiddles with it a little before it easily breaks. Panicking a little, he hides in an umbrella case next to him, pretending that nothing happened. As the Governor approaches, Will respectfully shows him the sword from its casing, explaining to him that the blade was folded steel, with a gold filligree laid into the handle. As he balances the sword on one finger at the point where the blade meets the guard, he adds that it was perfectly balanced, with the tang being nearly full width of the blade. The Governor seems impressed, saying to him to give his own compliments to Will's master. This makes Will internally disappointed, knowing that he made the sword himself. A woman comes down the stairs behind them, revealing it to be the Governor's daughter, Elizabeth Swann. Will respectfully greets her by calling her Miss Swann, and as she greets him. For Will, he feels low-class while in her presence as shyly communicates with her. As she leaves, he follows while seeing her get into a carriage, telling her to have a good day. Elizabeth gives him a small smile before she proceeds to use her handheld fan. Meanwhile, in the harbor, a sinking little boat comes sailing to the dock as a female figure held onto the mast before she smoothly stepped onto the dock. She appears to be wearing bucaneer-like clothing, including a long-sleeved, white-cottoned shirt with red embroideries, a black-leather corset over it, a flared, long-sleeved burgundy jacket, stopping just below her breasts, and tight, black jersey pants, tucked inside her black-heeled boots. She walks right past the harbormaster, who manages to stop her from going any further. He tells her that she has to pay a shilling to tie up her now underwater boat, and that he needs her name. She pays him three shillings to forget her name, which he seems to accept. Walking down the dock, she steals a small bag of shillings from a stand a second later. At the ceremony in the fort, in the crowd, Elizabeth's cousin, Abigail Ashe, fans herself to keep cool, but she really looks like she's about to pass out since she can barely breathe from her tight corset. She tries to stay awake while Commodore Norrington is presented. With choreographed precision, Governor Swann removes the sword and scabbard from the presentation case that was being held by a uniformed Navy man. He slides the sword into the scabbard, and holds it out vertically to Norrington. He grasps the scabbard and draws the sword, flourishing it, before letting it back in the scabbard. Among the audience, Abigail winces as she tries to hide her discomfort by discreetly adjusting the corset through her dress. Being able to sneak in without being spotted, Will stays hidden to watch the ceremony as he left his medium length brown hair down while being dressed in the attire he wore earlier, but with a red laced cape, and a grey, wide-brimmed hat with a white feather at the back of it. The silence is broken by a loud applause. Meanwhile, the mystery woman walks around to find a ship. She sees that there are two ships in the harbor, the Dauntless and the Interceptor, until she was stopped by the two men guarding them. She manages to talk to them by asking them how fast the ship goes and about a legendary ship called the Fancy. She learns that the Interceptor is the fastest British ship and she manages to confuse the men while she goes to look over the ship. However, she tricks them with the "truth", but doesn't tell the whole truth. Back at the fort, after the ceremony ends, Norrington asks to speak to Abigail, and they go over to the wall of the fort. Norrington chats to her, but Abigail can barely keep up with the conversation as she struggles to properly breathe. With Norrington's back turned, she weakly says that she can't breathe, passes out, and falls off the wall, into the water. As the mystery woman talks to the two guards, they hear a splash near them. She asks the two guards why they don't try to rescue her, but neither can swim, so she dives into the water instead. Being able to get her, she manages to pull her up while Abigail remained unconscious, but there was too much weight. While underwater, she takes the outer dress off of her, and manages to pull her up with the guards' help. Realizing she isn't breathing, the mystery woman manages to cut off the tight corset, which causes Abigail to immediately awaken and cough up water. The governor, Norrington, and Elizabeth approach them, and retrieve Abigail. At first, Norrington tries to arrest her, but Abigail manages to defend her by asking them if they were really intending on killing her rescuer. As Norrington was about to give her thanks, he finds the pirate brand on her wrist, recognizing her from a tattoo to be called Vivienne Black. Abigail is internally fascinated after finding out that Vivienne was a pirate, but protests as soon as they have Vivienne shackled. She tells him that whether or not the woman was a pirate, she still saved her life. But, he tells her that one good deed wasn't enough to redeem from a lifetime of wickedness. Now that Vivienne was safely chained, she suddenly uses her manacle chain and wraps it around Abigail's throat to threaten them as she backs up slowly. She suddenly shoves Abigail away before grabbing a rope, and pulls the belaying pin, a counterweight drops and Vivienne is lifted up to the middle of the gantry, where she is on the rooftops. Pistols fire as she runs, before snapping the length of the manacle chain over a line and grabs hold, sliding down the line, then out of sight. As an armed search party moves along the street, Vivienne comes out from her hiding place beneath the eaves of a building while the manacles were still on her. She hurried into a pass-thru door, unaware that it was the Blacksmith Forge. Slipping through the door, she looks around to see that she is in the Forge itself. Trying to look for something that could get her manacles off, she is startled by a noise: Mister Brown, who was snoring in a drunken state in a corner. Vivienne stalks towards him and gives him a hard poke, and then another, causing him to snort and turn away. Relieved, she takes a short-handled sledge, wraps the chain around the nose of an anvil, and brings the sledge down unsuccessfully. ((WIP))
