I haven't seen rifles used in the vesperia game as of yet in my play through, but there are cannons so it is very possible to use flint lock muskets at the least but mages or archers would be more practical, my recommendation is that you play using Raven's style with either going pure bow or getting a dagger along side it. Or use Artes and go for a Rita like character. Either or I'm planning on using a bastard sword (a two handed sword that can be used as a single handed one with some difficulties) type character personally. Remember your artes can allow you to do various types of elemental and physical attacks.

Also to Rege we're starting out in the imperial capital so I'd have you put in a trading guild or at least a mercenary with little guild connections. Because the way I have this planned out we can either become the Radiant Brigade guild or the Radiant Brigade for the Empire depending on how the story plays out.
