~Klisa & Ceri in a totally cliche Light Novel scene~
Klisa blinked a bit when she felt Ceri's hand suddenly slip into her own, with a firm grip that seemed to cry 'please don't let go'. It wasn't like they hadn't held hands before mind you, running from a monster on a dangerous job or trying to catch up to Miss Andrasia when she was boldly charging ahead. Many of those hand holding had been the sort of 'we are running and don't want to get separated kind. In a festival setting, hand holding tended to have a very different context. Klisa felt a tightness in her chest and a gentle heat color her cheeks. ~Relax Klisa~ she told herself ~Ceri is just making sure we don't get separated in the crowd, nothing more...still, it is nice to be holding hands just like~ As they approached the row of food stands she could feel the hesitation creep into Ceri's body language. She looked down at her friend and offered a comforting smile. "I attended a couple when I was little back in my home town. I'm betting it will largely be the same, even though my home town was along a bay, not a fresh water lake..." She paused thoughtfully and pursed her lips as if a disappointing thought just came to her. "Oh...I suppose they'll have no salt water taffy stands then. Pity that I always enjoyed those." She took a moment to look around the food stands, and taking stock of their options "well, you can always trust there to be alot of fried anything, the sweets and sweet-breads are always nice. If your looking for something more meal like and not just a quick snack, I suggest we hit up a stand selling anything out of the local lake, Being a lake town that more or less assures it will be a local specialty." "U-uhm, something sweet sounds nice." Ceri replied, somewhat unsure. She wasn't a big fan of fish, and if that's what came out of the lake then she didn't really want any. She was curious about this 'Taffy' Klisa mentioned though. Salt water as a food? That didn't sound like something someone would eat at all. Maybe she'd ask her about it later. Klisa gave a nod of her head and began to scan the stands mumbling 'Something sweet...something sweet...' untill her eyes settled on a stand that spoke to her, she let out a little 'Ah' noise and smiled. "How about some shaved ice? May be a good idea to try and hit that up before Ria notices it. I bet they use the local lake water too, so it should have an extra fresh taste to it. Its sort of like a snow ball thats been flavored with sweet syrups." Shaved ice? She turned to look where Klisa was. A snowball flavored with syrup? That certainly did sound good, and if it was something Ria would possibly want...yeah, it was a good idea to get it before she took all of it. "Ah...that sounds fine..." Ceri replied. "Alright then~." Klisa said cheerfully, leading them up to the shaved ice stand. She paused for a moment to look over the flavor selections "Hmmm, how about we go for the 'rainbow' option. it will let you get a little taste of all the different flavors so you'll know what you would like best for next time..." she began to trail off as she patted at her side with her free hand. She froze for an instant and looked down at her side. "Darn it...I forgot my purse back at the guild..." she rummaged through her pockets for a moment pulling out all the loose change she could find. "Well...I don't have nearly enough for...anything actually..." she let out a embarrassed little laugh and returned her chage to her pocket. "How much do you have on you?" "Oh...I think enough for one." Ceri sighed. Well that was certainly a problem. She hadn't thought to bring any money with her, considering she wasn't really planning on going today until Klisa found her. She did want one though. Looking at the shaved Ice being sold, it definitely looked good, but she also didn't want to be the only one enjoying it. That was a problem, and there was only one solution to it she could think of. "Uhm...m-maybe we could...share one?" Klisa's eyes widened at the suggestion, her face once more feeling the faint warmth of blush, and she may more may not have squeeze Ceri's hand a little tighter. Sharing something like this, on-top of holding hands, in this sort of setting. Well it was all thingscouples traditionally did. Actually if she thought about it, they probably looked a lot like a couple right now. The thought alone made her heart flutter a little bit. She was fairly sure Ceri, given her general lack of understanding of such things, hadn't put that together. And she was fairly certain that saying yes and taking advantage of that innocents would be a bad thing to do as a friend. "S-sure, That sounds great Ceri." ~Wait why did I say that? Quick brain abort, abort!~ "D-do you still want to try the rainbow one or..." ~AHHH STOP IT~ "Yes!" Ceri eagerly replied as Klisa squeezed her hand just a bit tighter, though she didn't comment. She was a bit too focused on the shaved ice, and the rainbow flavor. What better way to find out which one she liked best, than to try them all at once? Although, all of them looked good, and choosing between them would also be quite difficult. So she reached into the pockets of her robe, rummaging about for a few seconds before she found her money, and handed it to Klisa. "This should be enough, right?" Klisa took a subtle deep breath and attempted to regain her composure. No turning back now. She...she would just ask for two spoons to come with it, That way they would look more like friend sharing the frozen treat.~Yeah, right, good plan~ She couldn't help but smile at Ceri's eagerness, it wasn't often that the shy young mage showed such energy, it was undeniably cute. She accepted the money and went over it once. "Yeah, this looks like just enough." She queued them up in line. It was moving quite fast, who ever was working the stand was quite the skilled vendor it seemed. In almost no time they were up. Klisa, being the more out going of the two was prepared to place the order. The vendor, a woman in her mid 40's, paused from her busy yet efficient routine and noted the pair of girls in front of her. her eyes pointedly looked at their held hands and then at the blush on Klisa's face. She gave a some what coy grin and asked for their order. Klisa, feeling the flutter of her heart pick up again, quickly placed the order. But before she could ask for a pair of spoons the paper cone filled with beautiful rainbow colored shaved ice was in her hands and the natural flow of the line had moved them away from the stand. Klisa blinked in surprise for a moment at how quickly away they had gotten from the stand, she looked over her shoulder at the vendor, who spared her a quick look, winked, and gave her a 'good luck' thumbs up ~OH MY GOD THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING~ "W-well, here you go. Since it's your first time you get the first bite." "O-oh, well alright..." She couldn't say she was entirely against it, so she took the spoon, not realizing the vendor had only given them one. Getting a spoonful of the shave ice, she brought the treat to eye level, studying it just for a second before shoving the spoon in her mouth. She was immediately greeted with an explosion of flavor. A delicious, sweet flavor she was fairly certain was maybe blueberry and something else, but she wasn't sure. What she was sure of, was that it was delicious. So she grabbed another two bites of it, before realizing Klisa wasn't eating any of it. "Ah...uhm...sorry..." She continued. "I said we'd share and...I'm trying to eat all of it." She fidgeted, chuckling shyly, still not realizing she had the only spoon. Klisa was glad she had suggested well, even from beneath the obscuring hood she could tell Ceri was enjoying the icy treat, as evident by her enthusiastic scoops of rainbow colored sweetness. Klisa also felt a bit of relief, for a moment at least, that Ceri may simply eat it all and the odd almost date like scenario would be at an end. But seemed fate felt otherwise. Klisa, looking for a reasonable excuse as to not hurt ceri's feelings looked down at her hands, one still tightly he's Ceri's the other holding to cup of frozen sweetness. "I-I would love to but my hands are kind of full, hehe." "Ehe...oops." Ceri replied nervously, turning red just a bit in embarrassment. She didn't mean to keep holding onto Klisa's hand after that, but that was a problem. Well, the simple solution here was to simply release her hand...but wait...come to think of it, if they were holding hands still then where was the other spoon? Didn't they get one? Klisa didn't seem to be holding one and there wasn't another one buried in the shaved ice. Well, that solution was simple then. Honestly, she'd never be completely bold about something before. She was just too caught up in the moment to notice much. So she scooped out a bite of the shaved ice with the spoon, and held it out to Klisa, giving her a friendly smile from under her robe. Unfortunately, halfway through, she realized just exactly what it is she was doing, causing her hand to tremble slightly as her face went as red as a tomato. "W-well, w-w....don't have another spoon...s-so, u-uhm...." ~did I fall into a light romance novel while I wasn't looking? Next thing you know a transfer student will show up and some tiny talking animal will tell me I'm the chosen one~ was about the only coherent thought Klisa could muster through her flustered shock at the extended spoon held to her face. When she said they should come to the festival she would have never thought she'd experience something like his, Ceri holding her hand offer a bite from a spoon she had already used. This was classic light novel 'in direct kiss' trope. She was starting to wonder if that creep sunny had some sore of power to shape reality because this seemed like the kind of crap he'd go nuts for. Through her own flustered panic she noted how overwhelmed Ceri actually was. All the internal reaction Klisa was having Cari was wearing on her sleeve. For whatever reason that galvanized her into motion. With out any real hesitation she took the offered bite and gave her a wide smile "Thanks, it is really good." She paused only for a moment, unsure of what to donor say next, she honestly felt like she could sit in this moment for the rest of the day. "Ceri...Ceri I-" she began to say, and ahe want even exactly sure what was going to come out of her mouth next, but she was cut off by the familiar feeling of Mis's Magic and the somewhat distance tone of her voice raised in anger. "Did you feel that Ceri? I think Mis may be in trouble." The action earned a happy, though definitely relieved sounding sigh from Ceri. She may have been the one to suggest it, but she was still so nervous about it. She really was glad that no one she knew seemed to have seen them. She wasn't sure she'd be able to function properly if they had. Well, at least it was over. She would have honestly been glad to sit like that for a little while longer though, next to Klisa, but Klisa definitely was right. She definitely heard Mis' voice shouting something. She was confident Mis could handle herself, but...well, they should probably definitely go see. "Mhm..." Ceri replied, giving a nod. "That's definitely Mis..." She hoped it wasn't Vega or another member of Golems hand causing a problem. "S-should we go?" She quietly asked, taking another bite of the cold treat. "Yeah, I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this..." The pair of them, still holding hands, began to swiftly make their way back towards Mis. Ceri was still holding onto the shaved ice, though, not wanting to let such a delicious item go.
