As the laps passed by, Kimberly had managed to climb her way into first place. The Fiat had done so much for her in this race and she was going to reward it for its effort by bringing it back home with a win. Competition was breeded into her. From birth she had been conditioned to be the very best in everything she ever did. It might not have sounded healthy to anyone else, but in the Rossi family, second place was unheard of. From her days as a walking toddler racing her older siblings around the house, her days as a high school athlete trying to get recruited, and now, a high-caliber driver racing among some of the best rallycross drivers that Britain had to offer. A few years ago Kimberly would've never thought she would even be anywhere close to here, but here she was. Everything was a blur to the blue-eyed brunette, her legs working the living hell out of the pedals underneath her feet so that she had perfect balance at all times. Hitting that perfect, flawless heel-toe downshift was something only the top level drivers like Keiichi Tsuchiya, Ayrton Senna, and many others. Kimberly was pretty good at it, nowhere near Senna's level, but still good enough to maintain perfect harmony and balance on her car. She focused ahead as she descended into her final lap. She knew Ross was nearby, but just how close was he exactly? Her train of thought was interrupted as she suffered a serious slam from behind. It was Samantha turning her aggression up to 110%. The Galant was bumping the Fiat off the line they usually took. It was a smart strategy, and probably what Samantha was actually doing sitting back behind Kimberly's tail. She knew the lines Kimberly took now, so now Samantha knew exactly where to cut and pressure Kimberly. Kimberly realized this and made the mental adjustment to change all of her lines. She knew that she was doing something wrong in some aspect. But at the same time, Samantha revealed what she was doing too soon and as a result Kimberly was able to adjust accordingly. Where Kimberly would usually slow down on the first corner Kimberly simply lifted and applied a touch of brakes as she carried herself through the turn, the Fiat feeling different underneath a different sort of situation. She could feel contact in her blind spot, but she powered out of the turn as soon as possible. It was deathly scary now that Samantha had devised a counter to her gameplan, but her experience as an athlete had taught her how to devise a counter counter-strategy. Changing up lines and timing were key to getting an edge on Samantha, and soon enough they were heading towards the very last corner. That was where the race would be decided. --- As she heard the two minute warning ring through her ears, she rubbed her face and stood up, getting her legs and whatnot stretched out. The entrance they would be making was something that EVERYONE was going to be talking about. They were definitely going to be the center of attention for a while to come. It was okay, Ellie didn't mind being the center of attention for these sorts of things. After all, they were the guests of honor at tonight's party anyway. As the one minute warning passed by, she pulled her partner up and watched the door open up. The venue was closing in and soon enough they were going to finally be on solid land again. "After you, love." She beamed, poking her head to watch the land below.
