Iirc Northern Ireland was allowed to pass its own gun laws, so still gonna have a hard time getting a nice rifle, but something like a revolver should be manageable. Granted, character is from Scotland, so no real chance of that happening there at all.

Avoiding a political argument is good, though, so I'll just go back to lurking for now.
