They would probably know each other from when she used to play soccer. She wouldn't have been able to for the last couple years on account that she was in an accident that put her in a wheelchair. But there's no reason they couldn't still be friends because I'm sure she would still watch the games.

EDIT: Come ot think of it probably most of them would see Carol and wonder. She wouldn't be well known but it would be a surprise to see her being picked and standing on her own. Nevermind being able to lift a car.
