When an individual is accepted into military service, there are a number of required modifications and implants that are immediately installed. The extent of modification only increases as the requirements of a specific job become more unique or demanding—Special Forces, for instance, have a much more advanced array of implanted tech and modification than a normal grunt soldier. Armored EVA combat suits, high-risk environment suits (HRES), exo-suits, powered omni-environmental combat suits (POCS), and others, are utilized extensively in military service. These specialized suits are generally powered by compact, ultra-capacity power cells. Power cells allow suits to be operated for several days, depending on power demand. In rare cases, miniaturized nuclear reactors are also used. Miniaturized reactors permit an almost infinite power source (in terms of combat operations), although there exists a greater risk to the operator should catastrophic failure occur. Infantry and personnel weapons are similarly tech heavy. Kinetic, projectile, chemical, and energy weapons are all used within the military branches, with each being selected and designed for a specific application. In the case of energy weapons, most are powered using the operator’s onboard suit or exo-suit power source. In rare instances, hand-held weapons are still used. The most common is the oscillating combat blade, which is a super-hardened blade weapon that is vibrated at a specific wavelength to allow swift penetration through armor. These weapons are almost exclusively used by the Special Forces. These range from the giant space-going capital vessels, all the way to unmanned miniature attack drones. However, the most common, and arguably the most prominent class of mechanized war materiel is the YETI Frame. These versatile, powerful, and intricate, combat frames are utilized in nearly every phase of combat operations. They have been configured and modified to the extent that their usefulness is practically infinite, and as such, they are used everywhere. [sup]Examples of YETI frames.[/sup] YETI’s are controlled via specific implants in a pilot’s spinal column. As such, a YETI pilot needs little training to perform basic movements and operations—the frame moves and acts like the pilot’s own body. Thusly, if a pilot is an expert marksman outside of a YETI, that same pilot should be able to perform with the same proficiency while in the cockpit. In the bulk of both the Imperial and Republic militaries, there are units specifically formed to operate YETI frames; much like fighter squadrons. However, Special Forces units often operate their own YETI’s, and forego the need for support from an outside unit. The 7-5 is one such unit.

[x]The 7-5 The 75th Clandestine Activities Group, or 7-5, is a unit technically housed within the Imperial Navy, but attached to both the Orion Special Operations Command, and the Office of Imperial Intelligence. The unit is one of countless others in the classification of Special Forces. What makes the 7-5 and its sister CAG units unique among them is that they perform operations which require very specialized, and independent action. CAG’s are expected to be equally well versed in death dealing as they are gathering intelligence. From piloting massive YETI’s, to stalking the dark corridors of the slums, CAG operators are both wolf and chameleon, employing whatever means necessary to fulfill their mission. The 7-5 was commissioned just over a year before Earthfall. It’s primary focus was the tracking and precise extermination of terrorist cells creeping into the Imperial held space. Red Oath was not initially among its targets. When the attack on Earth was carried out, the Emperor himself selected the 7-5 out of the other available CAG units to exact vengeance upon the perpetrators. As such, the 7-5 claimed the moniker of “The Emperor’s Own”.
