No worries, they only plan on looting.
Pls nu looting :<
As far as I can tell, we aren't going to be able to easily pursue first contact with each other. We can metagame slightly as we're being informed of the coordinates we're each exploring (see how the Preservers explored J2), but we do have to explore the territory between different races first. It's very possible, for instance, that the Orx and your species will be placed on opposite sides of the map. It's also possible they'll be right beside each other. Where [@Theodorable] places folks is incredibly important. Personally, I'd love to remove the metagaming effect entirely by replacing the coordinates with something else temporarily. J2 could be called "Unnamed" until I give it a designation from my species, maybe temporarily referred to as "1 South of Orox System" or something. I wouldn't mind seeing coordinates once the map goes up, though.
I might actually bring back something relatively (in)famous from the past version of Fuso/Ryukyu: the FTDerp Drive. [@Sigma] might remember it unless I'm remembering NRPs incorrectly. Its a normal FTL drive, just more inaccurate. Even with precise calculation, there's still a chance of you going about 100km off course, hence the name FTDerp or Derp Drive. Could say that after a navigator practiced headbanging or "got intimate" with another crew member on the computer, the ship ended up near you.
It's a reference to Warhammer even though I have never played it. Normally, the phrase is "Blood for the Blood God!" and it is used by the followers of Chaos. I thought I might as well make the joke since my aliens are focused on science and you are playing as orcs from Warhammer 40k.
Should have referenced the Tau or the Eldar :lol
