"I can't believe they just kicked us out like that." Nathaniel sighed in annoyance as he stepped out of the infirmary with Brad. "I mean, where are we supposed to go? The entire school is on lockdown!" Nathaniel had hoped that they could just take refuge in the infirmary until the rest of this affair was settled, but no such luck. Now they were stuck wandering the building with at least one deranged psychopath on the loose. Nathaniel could tell, judging by the number of victims that had accumulated in the infirmary, that either the mysterious woman has had a very busy day, or there might actually be more than one assailant. And that was just the people taken into the infirmary. Who knows what other soul was unfortunate enough to face one of these lunatics, and was now lying on the ground beaten with nobody around to help them? Nathaniel shuddered at the thought. Nathaniel quickly went over their options in his head. They could either go up into the classrooms, or head down into the recreational areas, and both had their upsides and downsides. Given that it is around the time they usually have classes, that means the upper floors are probably the most congested. That means more students, and hopefully more security officers. At the same time, it also probably means more assailants, and it was a crapshoot which one they would run into first. There was also the pain of climbing up stairs. A few flights, Nathaniel could handle, but if they wanted to get to a classroom, they could be climbing anywhere from thirteen flights to thirty. On the other hand, they could head down into the recreational areas. If they were lucky, they might run into some members of the staff there. Librarians, shopkeepers, patrolling officers, really anybody would do. If they were unlucky, then they might also run into a random bad guy. On top of that, the school was locked down. That means even if they get down to the lobby, there would be no escape, for the invaders or the students. To sum up that little internal debate, there was really no best option here. "Brad, what do you think? Do we go up or do we go down?"
