Well, post GBA Dark Magic was a little lack-luster. Especially Awakening. I also wasn't too happy with getting rid of Light magic. I've also tried to overall balance the game against magic, since it really is absolutely overpowered in most of the games. The real problem is that everyone has bad resistance. Most classes have fairly decent or better Def save for magicians. But even then, most magicians have only slightly better Res than everyone else. What I did was try to reflect similar levels of Def and Res across the board. Magicians have similar Res values to the Def values of martial classes, and similar Def to their Res values. Just kinda made Res more believable across the board. IMO as it should be.
