Don't let her hold the story back, she will move along and follow the panthers wherever they go.
Kat just has a lil PTSD and is afraid of dying. 
But she will 'self medicate' to get over it. (Problem for another day)
She will be combat ready by the next mission.

In the meantime, (and aslong as people give me a platform to) Kat will be an angry emotional disruptive roller coaster and probably alienate herself from others.
