You could do a small flash back to an accident that happened in the week time skip to Halloween before reforming and head to town because most aren't at the temple or reform dork squad and have everyone go.

Or

You could have it that Amber was in his room and the others there can give a kind  of explaination of what happened. Give him an ear piece like everyone else has and he can journey to town
