"Thorin!" Kili shouted as he tried to push through the crowd to get to his uncle as Thorin was thrown to the ground by one of the goblin subjects, who was lining up his foul blade to cleave the dwarf prince's head off. 

But at that very moment, a bright white light burst forth from behind the group and engulfed them all, making the goblins scream and drop to the floor, stunned. As the dwarves blinked and looked about them, dazed, and the light cleared, they saw Gandalf standing there.
"Take up arms!" the wizard instructed, raising his voice to shout loudly. "Fight! FIGHT!"
